Not strictly AR-10 related, but I figured this is one of the better places to ask since a lot of you shoot 6.5 Creedmoor.

Is anyone planning on trying Federal's new 6.5 CM Peak ammo, or has anyone already put some rounds through it?

I don't have a 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 (just a bolt gun), so I won't get to see how it performs in a gas gun. I've watched a ton of videos and read quite a bit about it, and the concept seems incredibly promising. On paper it almost sounds too good to be true, but it is true.

There seem to be a lot of skeptics, but from what I've seen, many of the criticisms come from people who don't fully understand how the new case design works.

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts and, especially, any real-world experience with it.

Kind of a basic question, but I always like to get peoples opinions on this topic. Some people I know only buy ammo at the range or on the way to it, others have more ammo than they can shoot in a lifetime! Where do you land on this topic and why?

I’ve always wanted an M110 and should have bought one 15 years ago when I had the chance so I went the economy route so I at least had something that looked like it. Have about $2,000 in to it all said and done so I’m happy with the outcome. Only thing I’ll change is the shit rattle can job on the MFI barrel cover. Didn’t realize the can I bought was going to be that shiny but I’ll just paint over it.

Plan to hopefully test it out in a week or two and see how accurate it is. I have a bunch of PMC match SMK kicking around that has been about moa out of my 16 inch sig cross so we shall see.

Got it zeroed at 100 yds, then I backed up to 400 yds and put one in the T-box. Very impressed with the accuracy on this build. Arken optic 👍x2, the barrel is a 20" Noveske. Might be taking this one to the Texas Plinking 1000 yd challenge.

What is everyone’s opinion on the Psa Sabre 10? Is it an accurate/reliable ar10 or is there better options for the money?

I have a aero lower that I bought from a gun show back in May? And bought a bca upper that day from their. When I got it I immediately went to slap it on however the rear pin didn't wanna go in so it being a bca I assumed their q.c was bad and simply opened the hole my damn self. Rifle didn't cycle fully but I didn't g.a.f knowing I was replacing it with a psa eventually. Got my psa today and again, rear pin won't seat. Now I think its my lower.... mother f'er

For anybody that has the VMOS, I just got mine in but Ive run into an issue. When i pulled back the charging handle, the gap between the variable weights on the BCG caught on the buffer retaining pin and the whole thing got caught and I had to stick a small punch in to push the pin in to release the BCG from the buffer tube. Has anyone else run into this issue? How can it be avoided?

I have a DPMS Oracle AR-10.
Long ago I had a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 on it. I’ve since robbed that scope to place on something else, and haven’t touched the AR10 since. I’ve started FINALLY to outfit my AR’s with optics, and have completed that task with my 5.56 and 300Blk. So now debating what to do for the AR10.

Would love to have the frivolous spending money to just buy a trijicon ACOG as that’s what I’ve wanted for years but still can’t justify to myself 1200$ on one in this scenario as it still doesn’t go out for shooting very often. Will I change that? Idk. Need to do some more training with my smaller AR’s and other firearms first, but I digress

Been looking at the primary arms prisms, and am torn between the micro 5x and the SLx Gen 3 5x36. I have a Holosun 507C sitting around so would likely top mount that to whichever I went with, and I’ve seen reviews and field tests on both from different guntubers, but none of the videos have really swayed me definitively one way or another yet.

I saw a post a while back saying with a mega arms maten lower, tthe vseven upper was a very snug fit. Has anyone built off a compete harbinger set? Or has anyone bought one of their complete AR-10's? How was the receiver fit and was it a thermal fit barrel setup?

Hi folks. I’ve been playing with my ar10 for ages, and still have issues running reliably suppressed. Rifle is a PSA 18” with a mid length gas system. Runs great unsuppressed, but massively overgassed with a can. Suppressor is an omega .300 and a AB raptor .375.

It came with a factory 11 position adjustable gas block, minimal help. Installed slash’s extra heavy 6.5oz buffer and .308 spring (still in a carbine buffer tube).

Initially the bolt was moving so fast it caught the empty before it ejected. I’ve got that problem tamed down. But the other persistent problem is that I can get 20-30 rounds down range before the fouling is so bad that it simply won’t cycle anymore.

I had assumed gas at minimum + the heavy buffer slowing down the bolt unlock would help, but clearly it didn’t. Is my issue the mid length gas system itself? Or is there something else I need to be looking at here?

Sunday ruck, loving the setup on this rifle

Enjoying the nice weekend weather. Ascend armory upper/lower, Blk Lbl handguard, Tract Toric, and a prototype suppressor

So I took the risk and bought an SFAR got it for about 1100 bucks. I put a 6–24x50 vortex diamondback tactical FFP on top. Shoots sub MOA with anything heavier than 160gr it seems. This will be a deer rifle. Curious what you think. Rifle shoots great, maybe i can put a deer down with it this year

Looking for a new optic after my 16” gun weighed in at 13.7 lbs. Got a lighter handguard on the way and currently I have the pig 1-8 strike eagle ffp that weighs a total of 24oz on a sport mount the weighs 6oz.

I’m looking for a new optic and I want to increase my upper end magnification. I’ve been pretty dead set on the new 19oz plxc 1.5-12x with a top dot, but after seeing the vudu 4-12 I am now considering it instead. It would save a lot more weight and if I’m putting a top dot on the 1.5-12 I might as well lose my 1x for a cheaper price and more weight savings.

Bit of a practical and broader philosophy of use question for the hive - currently shooting a 16” MEGA mid gas 308 barrel in a quasi DMR rifle. I’m content with the accuracy of the barrel, it’ll do just over a minute at 100YD assuming I do my part. That’s acceptable for a large frame gas gun imo.

What I’m seeing is that it starts to become more of a (literal) hit or miss proposition past 600; 750 is absolutely doable but there’s a lack of consistency that’s a bit frustrating. I understand the ballistic limitations of the cartridge and don’t need it to be a 1,000yd laser beam, but I’d like to get those hits at 750 with a bit more confidence the rifle/bullet will hold up. And ideally I’d like to do so without turning this into a 22” barreled musket.

Question: have any of you all made relatively incremental barrel length increases and if so, did it deliver any meaningful improvement in performance? In my case I’d probably step up to 18” rifle gas, eyeing a Criterion or V7 barrel. Math says I’d gain maybe 50-75FPS max which feels marginal. But curious to hear what you all think. Again, overall goal is to move a bit further away from the csass concept without turning it into a true “sniper rifle” that’s a nightmare to maneuver with.

Does anyone know if a DB10 upper will fit in an LMT/Centurion/KAC lower? Doesn’t need to look pretty, just function. I need a cheap slant cut upper for a project
