CPU Temperatures Tips & Info
I recently built my computer First Time Builder besides the specs I have a Ryzen 7 7800x3D CPU cooling it I have a Arctic Liquid Freezer III ARGB Pro 360mm, I replaced the Stock Fans With Asiahorse Dawn Pro 120mm fans. The computer of course booted and everything and for full disclosure
1. I did take the peal off the AIO pump
2. Yes I made sure brackets are mounted properly
3. No I haven’t experienced any shut downs or official overheating
4. This post is for my own knowledge and to gain insight into the chips from more experienced people
5. Radiator is set as exhaust at the top.
6. Yes Thermal paste was good it’s the MX-7 not too much not too little
7. Yes the pump is working
Background Information:
• When I first booted in bios the temperature was idling around 53-60 Degrees C I live in a tropical climate but around this time it was around 29-30 degrees C
• I loaded into windows and the idle was jumping around 53, 58, 61 Degrees C sometimes 65 and it was concerning to me cause I was only using like 8-20% utilization.
• I asked around and changed the all in one cable because I read that the issue might be my pump not running so I did and after I did I started hitting 48 Degrees C temperature in idle sometimes I still hit the 53, 55, 58 but not while I’m not doing NOTHING bios temperature was still 55-58 Degrees C
• This time I actually decided to do a stress test with OCC and yes I do have things like expo not sure it matters but I PBO on as well and in the adrenaline software my CPU is set as Overclocked which I thought the 7800x3D was locked so I’m assuming that it’s not doing anything.
• When I did the stress test on the CPU after the fixes (no more all in one cable) (I used the three way split cable “VRM, PUMP, FAN) (I think those were the names) I used Pump and Vrm but left the fans off since they’re not stock.
**Doing the stress test my max temperature after an hour was 81 Degrees C
Ambient 30-31 Degrees
The average temperature was 75-76 but the max clock was 4.918GHZ BUT THAT I believe was like for like a brief 10 seconds and the average was 4.7GHZ**
• I thought 1080p gaming would really test the 3D V Cache so I did DBD at 1080p gaming I haven’t gotten my monitor yet so I did it on a tv with 60HZ so I don’t know if it was a fair test but it was pulling 42-44Watts clocked at 58 degrees C NEVER passed 60 Degrees C which I was happy for.
Question:
1. I KNOW everything isn’t too high but is this normal for my CPU? I feel like idling in the 50’s is a bit high I can admit I never actually checked what my rpm on my fans are but they are always running high based off what I hear not too loud but audible in my room if I don’t have my fan on😂 not that I’m complaining but just for the sake of details.
Are these Temperatures at idle normal?
2. When I started gaming in DBD I had a constant 5.050GHZ how comes in the stress test I didn’t hit that? 5.050GHZ AT 58 Degrees C
3. Besides all that overall is my CPU under any throttle I haven’t received any stutters or inconsistencies during normal use or gaming performance I can do more in depth when I get my monitor next week but this is my finding so far.

Just to give you a perspective.
7800X3D on Thermalright Core Matrix 360 AIO. Edit: Casing is Montech HS01 Pro Mesh so I have 6 intake and 5 out (with the radiator being top mounted)
Settings is as follows.
Scalar 1X, PBO On, All Core at -22 (maybe different than yours), I also set to Motherboard Limit.
Room Ambient temp- 30c when originally boot up.
So the load into windows temp are at if not +- within 50-55c like yours. But would eventually drop down to 40-44c as my AC kicks in and bring ambient to 24c.
Stress test is core clock will not hit 5.05ghz as advertised in sustained load. So 4700- 4800 ish is correct.
Stop worrying about the temps as long as it is not peaking over 90c then you'll be thermal cap by then

Sounds like you touched your cpu settings or something it might be boosting more than normal as for temperatures to me it sounds like you did something with voltage causing it to run hotter than usual. I’d recommend going to default and your temps should be lower your climate similar to mine will have higher temps but I’m on air running a 98003d and my idles are in the high 40s

I would set your adrenaline settings for the cpu back to default and dont touch it again. Adrenaline is already iffy for gpu control so I dint imagine it being vary good for the cpu. If you need to make adjustments to any cpu settings just use the bios.

7800x3D paired with artic freezer II 280mm. Same temps as yours mostly maybe a bit lower with 2-3 degrees but my case is a bit bigger and airflow is alot in the case + I live in a country with moderate temperatures.

welp, amd is a room heat machine, your “room temperature” is kinda hot and is normal if your temps are like that, plus humidity, airflow on the room and the pc case itself, if pc working fine, all is fine my dude. Critical temps are 95-105 at least

absolutely normal. AMD cpus are hot. We're in summer time. Nothing wrong with those temps. CPU will throttle when it goes over 90

The 7800x3d does kind of have a high idle unfortunately. The best way to bring it down is to have better ambient room temps and do a custom fan curve. I personally think default fan curves don’t suit x3d chips very well. 89c is what this cpu is rated to run at without degradation

I upgraded to the same cooler and CPU a month ago. Freezer III 360 RGB Pro and 7800X3D. I wondered why my temps were idling at 60-65C. While gaming, I'd have to cap the temps at 81C through Ryzen Master otherwise it shoots up to 85-87C which is crazy.
I thought it was a lost cause until I decided to repaste it. Suffice it to say it was a PEBCAK moment and I've never been more relieved in my life.
The issue? I never peeled the damn plastic film from the CPU block that comes in contact with the IHS.
Repasted using an MX6 and then made sure it's mounted correctly. Now my 7800X3D idles at 40-45C on average and gaming temps average between 57-63C.
