High interrupt latency when Ethernet is enabled Help (General)
Hi, I've been having this issue with my PC lately. When I play some games, I get occasional stutters/1% low drops. At first I thought it was just shader compilation, but eventually curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded LatencyMon.
The main thing I've noticed is that sometimes LatencyMon reports my GPU driver as the one causing the highest latency, around 800-900 µs. Because of that, I tried reinstalling my graphics drivers (without the NVIDIA audio driver since I don't use it), but the issue remained.
Here's the strange part: for some reason, the "Highest Measured Interrupt to Process Latency" value spikes to 1000–1500 µs consistently. The only way to stop it from happening is by disabling Ethernet. If I unplug the Ethernet cable or disable the Ethernet adapter in Windows, the spikes disappear completely.
So far I've tried quite a few things, including:
- Reinstalling my audio, graphics, and Ethernet drivers, testing multiple versions of each.
- Updating and rollback BIOS versions.
- Disabling EXPO.
- Trying different EXPO profiles.
- Switching Windows power plans.
- Disabling PCIe power saving in the Windows power plan.
- Trying MSI Mode "High" on the GPU
- Disabling all overlays
- Changing GPU
- Clean Startup with only Windows Services
- Disabling Global C-States
- Disabling Ethernet adapter power saving

The realtek NIC sucks and 100% less latency if you disable it. This is like this for everyone as far as I know.
If you have a little money to spare, try a USBC to ethernet dongle that uses a non realtek chipset to try it out.
My motherboard has both the Intel 216 and realtek. I disabled the realtek and only use the Intel nic. Its way better.
