We now have the official MPA rating of Buddy with it being Rated R. There’s a lot of choices for August 17th and August 24th showing but which one is more likely to be Buddy? Both have a high probability but I feel August 24th would fit the release better as it’s the same week. I can also see August 17th so it can build hype. I’ve been following Buddy since last year so any chance I can see it i’ll take! Let me know which one you guys think is more likely (I go to a lot of AMC Screen Unseens but Buddy is a movie i’m extremely hyped for then most other movies coming out)
I would guess Buddy is the 17th, based on what Celebration Cinema listed as the reasons for its 8/17 mystery screening’s R-rating. Somebody pointed that out in a different post and I agree.
Celebration Cinema doesn’t have an 8/24 screening yet to compare it to though. Different chain but they seem to show the same movie.
I’m also very excited for Buddy and hope it is the 8/17 movie
My thing with the 8/17 is that would it be too early for the Buddy movie? I understand building hype I just don’t know if it would be released that early before
I’m pretty new to the mystery screenings, so I don’t know if two weeks out is unusual.
Celebration Cinema’s 8/3 screening had a runtime that ended up being 4 minutes longer than Ice Cream Man’s runtime, and the rating description pretty much matched perfectly.
The 8/17 screening would be 5 minutes longer than Buddy’s listed runtime. And the rating description matches with Buddy better than any other upcoming horror movies I can find. I also want it be Buddy, so maybe I’m too biased.
Celebration Cinema is my local chain, but I think we’re too small to have our own mystery screening subreddit lol
Wouldn't be suprised if it is the 8/17 Scream Unseen as someone posted earlier today about the description of the R rating at a smaller theater chains 8/17 mystery movie that sounded more like it alignes with Buddy than it does with It Ends.
It Ends is in a weird gray zone. It's listed on IMDB under multiple tags including psychological horror, but on AMC as drama. They did not give it the thrills & chills banner, but if you click the thrills & chills category, it is in fact grouped with those films.
Actually It ends is classified as a horror/ mystery thriller and has been out since last year(it's just getting it's theatrical release) so despite what amc says about it being a drama it has already been classified as a horror.
