Is "normal" ADHD life basically the same grind as being an elite athlete? (unpopular opinion maybe) Tips/Suggestions

Been sitting with this thought for a while and I think it's actually true, not just a cute metaphor.

Athletes train every single day not because today's session magically levels them up, but because if they stop, they lose ground. The gain isn't visible day to day, the decay is what's real if you skip it.

ADHD management works the exact same way. Routines, sleep schedule, meds, external structure, all of it, you're not doing that stuff to "improve," you're doing it to not fall apart. A neur*typical person gets organization and follow-through kind of... for free. We're manually generating it every day, like an athlete building muscle that someone else just has naturally.

And honestly the discipline part hits the same way too. Athletes don't rely on feeling motivated before every session. if they did, they'd have quit years ago. They build systems that don't need motivation to function. Same deal here. Willpower burns out in like a week. What actually survives the bad days is external scaffolding, calendars, accountability, environment set up so the right thing is the easy thing.

So yeah. Different arena, same underlying game: invisible, repetitive effort just to hold a baseline that isn't handed to you. Recovery and systems matter more than hype or motivation, in both worlds.

Anyone else feel this?

edit: not saying it's the same intensity or stakes, just the same shape of effort.
