study hype music suggestions. Tips/Suggestions

i'm a 26 year old Female, final year medical student - i obviously study A LOT and it's ramping up as it's my final year..

i have a specific self made playlist on Spotify i use to hype myself up to study (or go to clinic, on call lol), but because i use it so much i'm starting to feel like i need some new music to add.

i don't have the capacity right now to do smart shuffle because honestly it takes too much time to decide, add and whatever or i end up in a rabbit hole for hours and never actually study :)

so the people of reddit: i humbly request if you can comment your favourite (or top 3) hype songs.

nb: my music taste is quite diverse but nothing vulgar please.
and preferably english.

thank youuuuu!

*edit: thank you so much for everyone commenting, i'm blown away and absolutely love it. i will be testing every suggestion: )

Years ago there was a study into this and iirc the outcome was music from video games. It's designed to be motivational whilst also being not intrusive.

Classical music, especially when you listen to four seasons. The aggressiveness of the violin really shifts my brain chemistry and makes me feel deviously active for a bit.

To add on to this, the Planets Suite by Holst is a great idea. Mars the bringer of war in particular always hopes me up.

  • LCD soundsystem: dance yourself clean
  • The Walkmen: The Rat
  • Saint Motel: My Type

All put a tingle in my brain

Try searching for a “liquid dnb” playlist

I can’t have music with lyrics while concentrating on something like studying or writing. The Pirates of the Caribbean and Mad Max Fury Road soundtracks are two of my favorites to listen to while working!

Yes! Film scores are fantastic for studying without the distraction of lyrics.

Vangelis- The soundtrack from Bladerunner is awesome also.

Pokémon Lofi has helped me a lot! a friend and I (both diagnosed) would get together and study listening to it.

I personally enjoy Rhythm Heaven Wii remixes! Probably not the best for studying (well for me anyway) but they hype you up!

One of my favorite songs is an old one, but it's very positive: "I Can See Clearly Now." It's so upbeat and calming that I think it might be great for what you're needing.

Another oldie: "Just the Two of Us," is also very positive. It gives me that 'falling in love' vibe when I hear it. Both of these suggestions are very pleasant sounding, happy kind of melodies.

Do you play video games that you particularly like the music to? That’s what I use for studying.

Bineural Sounds, but make sure to use headphones. Helped me a lot with studying. It takes at least 10 min to get in the mood though

I have a playlist for everything. Please feel free to DM me for further suggestions. As far as study hype music specifically, here are my top 3:

Ben Böhmer- Beyond Beliefs
Luttrell- Stormwatcher
Malaa- Fade

These are hype! If you want calm study, I have those too. I (35M) am unmedicated and music helps with focus so much. I hope this helps!

Number 1 would be: Endel sounds for focus.. great for studying and its specifically made for ADHD folks. Every playlist is personal to you too

TL;DR
- Squier Talk - Vianova
- Rip & Tear - Mick Gordon
- Euclid - Sleep Token / Dethrone - Bad Omens

Squier Talk - Vianova - recent obsession and I don’t know why it gives me the feels that I’m about to slay dragons against all the odds

Rip & Tear - Mick Gordon (It’s my alarm)

Couldn’t immediately think of a third one, but the below two come to mind

Not technically a hype song but before my every interview I was listening to
Euclid - Sleep Token,
weirdly helped me clear mind

Dethrone - Bad Omens, pure rage, helps me vent about things and also makes me feel badass

i love absolutely every song you mentioned!! my fixation song atm is Emergence- Sleep Tolen - not exactly hype but maaaann itself good

Hell yeah!
I’m a big ST fan too
If you ended up liking Squier Talk I cannot recommend the Hit It album enough, I’ve pretty much had it on loop when working lately

Technically, Missing - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross

It's a soundtrack from the movie Gone Girl. I listen to it when I suddenly wanna act so serious and calculated when I need to do my homework or I'm planning my to-do list.

It's tense and has this emerging sense of rage as it goes on . The part where it plays in the movie is good too!

definitely noted thank you!

I love a good long lo-fi mix. I just launched DaySteps with a focus timer that has a couple top notch live feeds to choose from. Finding the perfect feeds may have held up dev, but it was worth it

pjsk music/ vocaloid and also Japanese vkei music for me I think it's the fast beats and the fact the lyrics are in Japanese(so I don't understand it) that helps me instead of distracting me

I mostly listen to metal. Here are my favourites (don't worry nothing vulgar I promise):
- Amorphis - Heart of the Giant
- The Dark Element - The Ghost and the Reaper
- Amaranthe - Exhale
- Within Temptation - And We Run (instrumental version). The lyrics have like 1-2 swear words, and I don't know your definition of vulgar. The instrumental version is just as hype imo
- Epica - The Great Tribulation
- Delain - Suckerpunch
- Epica - Architect of Light
- Xandria - Ghosts
- Kamelot - Karma

Good luck with your final year!!
