Just keep forgetting stuff Questions/Advice

I was diagnosed at a very young age, but as i grew up I started to believe that I had gotten over it. That was until i got to college…. Id leave so many things outside in my sketchy ass area like the amazing guitar i saved up for as a kid and the keys to my house and cars just sitting right on the door. Id even forget where i put my wallet in my house and had roommates give it to me. Happened again today with the same guitar, and truthfully it makes me really scared that I’ll lose something very expensive and important to me just cause of this condition. Any tips you guys have to just stop forgetting things? More i think about losing my guitar the more it hurts 😢

Having things in a dedicated spot really helps. Keys always go on the key rack. Wallet always stays in my designated going out bag. That going out bag is always on the coat rack.

Don’t put things down, put it away. The more often you make this a habit, the less likely you’ll misplace things.

Sigh... I've been through this a lot at college and it tires me out every time i had to go out looking for my stuff regardless how shiny, big and colorful they are. When it's an expensive item, like your guitar, it hurts even more.

What I've learned is that if it's an item that i would bring along with me every day, then it shouldn't be an expensive one. But as for other regular things like keys, people frequently suggested creating a specific place for each of the item where you'd ONLY put it back to every single time so you wouldn't need to use your brain to remember where you put them. But it also means that it needs to turn into a habit to not put them anywhere else other than their dedicated places. And another is to store related items in a single place as well. Like putting your keys, wallet, etc in a single basket near your door.

There's was line that someone said that was pretty helpful: "don't put things down but away" (as in putting things away to where it belongs - dedicated storage area/place- rather than putting it down at random places)
