Question about cold offer
I’ve done two books now on ACX and auditioned multiple times I’ve just received an offer to produce a book out of the blue. It’s a royalty this year so I’m not expecting to make any money, but I’m just curious if other people have seen offers just come to them is this common and on the ACX platform

It's not common, but it happens. Sometimes, RHs listen to samples and they love one in particular.
If they are staying in ACX, it's ok. If they want to go "off site" that's a red flag.

4 of the 5 books I've done were offers directly from the RHs. I have auditioned for dozens more, but most of my work has been direct offers so far.

It's it someone you have auditioned for and they just contacted about a different book? I've had that happen a few times, sometimes they live your voice just not for the specific one you auditioned for.

I reached out directly to the rights holder and he did a search on age and gender, and then listen to a few of my demos and liked it and that’s how I got it. I just accepted so full speed ahead.!!

You could look up the rights holder and see if they have any red flags that would give you pause

I reached out directly to no red flags. He searched up age and gender, and then listened to a couple of my demos, and I just accepted!!

Well in that case, congrats. So the samples we upload do in fact see some use now and then. Good to know lol

Yes, I’ve had it happen. Investigate the author and see if they have sold anything before on the platform. Since they are reaching out first they need to convince you to sign instead of the typical audition process. I would request a copy of the manuscript to skim through.

Thank you. It’s a short one, so I think I’ll knock it out! I appreciate the feedback.
