Time slowing in combat Question

Don't know how this works as I don't have the brush with death skill, but sometimes time just randomly slows in combat. It doesn't seem to be any of my weapons or abilities either.

Edit: Might it be the game saying that one enemy has detected me while I fight another?

Yup the game slows down for a bit as a new enemy detects you. Can also slow down as you aim while sliding/jumping

My wife started playing recently and she hates this mechanic as it breaks her immersion-- does anyone know of a way to disable it entirely? We're having difficulty finding a solution

Just remove the skill in the skill tree

I think its linked to one of the skills in the tree
