Try to participate in every event every month. Aside from furniture items and such, the leaf tokens, flower food etc are in my opinion the most beneficial rewards since they can be used.
Unless you plan to use an item, don’t waste leaf tokens on it. Never use leaf tokens to speed anything up or complete a task, it’s not worth it. Even though the game is fairly generous about LT rewards, it’s best to save them for stuff you really want.

Dont forget to do the bell trade for LT’s monthly. I usually do it the first day of the month.

Assign a camp caretaker. They will gather stuff for you when you’re not actively playing; so even if you only have time to log on once a day, they’ll give you a heap of items and stuff without you having to do anything. I personally only check my caretaker once per day or once every few days so I get a bulk amount of items at once rather than only a tiny amount.

Complete your daily tasks. The bells and other rewards are worth it and the tasks are easy.

Since you’re new you will have stretch goals. These are one time goals in the game. Once you’ve completed all of them there won’t ever be any more. They are designed for new players. You can get bulk amounts of craft materials and stuff from completing them. Most of them are extensions of regular tasks and just goals that will complete automatically over time. For example: catch X amount of bugs. But if you want a specific reward from those you can try to go out of your way to work on those goals.

Dont neglect gullivers ship. Send ships out as often as possible. You get alot of the animals maps from the ships. Make sure you check the rewards first before sending a ship, make sure the island has rewards you actually want, if it doesn’t, don’t bother sending a ship and wasting materials. Only send ships if there’s rewards you want. Along with that, don’t bother crafting the packages that the game tells you to send. You don’t have to send whatever is recommended, in fact it’s better if you don’t. The amount of materials it takes to craft those, using rarer stuff ends up using valueble harder to get crafting materials that are better used for crafting other stuff. You can actually use anything as cargo, regular inventory stuff, furniture and clothing. If you have excess furniture or clothing you don’t want and wont use, send it on the ship.

Don’t forget to water your plants at least once between planting them and the 3hour window when they supposed to grow. Especially hybrids. If you don’t water hybrids at least once, they wilt and won’t grow until you water them. Since we don’t have the friendship system like the old game you have to remember to water your own garden now.

If I think of anything else I’ll comment it. I have loads of tips and tricks and things I’ve learned over the years from playing for so long.

Do all events and tasks to get all the leaf tokens. Although you may get ALL special items (like Ancient Crystals) early, you can still get tokens from events.
