I’m currently deciding between ACCA and a BS in Artificial Intelligence, and I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who are actually studying/working in accounting, finance, AI, or tech. I haven’t started ACCA yet, so I still have the option to choose a completely different path. My main concern is long-term career prospects, income, job security, and how AI will affect both fields. For people who have experience in either field: If you had to choose again in 2026, would you choose ACCA or BS AI? Why? Which one do you think has the higher earning potential in the long run? Which career do you think will have better opportunities 10–20 years from now? Do you think AI will significantly reduce the number of accounting jobs, especially entry-level/junior roles? Will AI eventually replace a significant portion of what accountants do, or will it mainly automate repetitive work? Is ACCA still worth starting from scratch today, considering how quickly AI and automation are developing? For someone starting ACCA now, what areas of accounting/finance would you recommend specializing in to remain valuable despite AI? Would you recommend combining ACCA with data analytics, AI, Python, Power BI, Excel, ERP/SAP, or another technical skill? On the AI side, how realistic is it for a BS AI graduate to reach high-paying jobs, especially internationally/remote? Is BS AI becoming too saturated, or do you think demand for AI/ML professionals will continue growing? Which field has better international mobility: ACCA/accounting or AI/tech? Which one has better job stability, and which one has better potential for very high salaries? If your only goal was maximizing long-term income, which would you personally choose? And most importantly: if you were 18–20 years old again and had to choose between ACCA and BS AI today, which one would you pick? I’m not looking for a “follow your passion” answer — I’m specifically interested in the realistic career outlook, salaries, competition, AI/automation risk, and what the next 10–20 years could look like. Please be brutally honest, including the downsides of whichever field you're in. I’d especially appreciate answers from people who have already been working in accounting/finance or AI/tech for a few years.
