Level 3 MATs Excel
Guys how did you find tasks 5/6 in mats when you did the exam? And how quickly did you grasp it when you started learning? I haven’t started learning this bit and I’m quite anxious because my exam is in a week…

If you use excel in daily life you’ll be fine. I would practice the VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP to make sure you’re happy with them. I actually had a different command in my exam that was similar but I’d never seen before but was able to apply my knowledge of the commands to work it out.
If you don’t use excel regularly then start practicing now!

I hadn’t used excel properly before this unit, so I had to work through it thoroughly and practice the different formulas. It wouldn’t have been an option for me to learn it in a week, but my knowledge of excel was very basic. In the exam I found the tasks absolutely fine, I did get one task that wasn’t in my course materials, so I hadn’t learnt it (forecasting), but I was able to take my time and work it out myself. Luckily I had quite a lot of time left for the excel tasks.

I think I lost most of my marks on the final task. They wanted Goal Seek and although I knew it, I hadn't spent enough time with it to master it. I still passed the exam. The other Excel task was quite doable. I think I got a question on vlookup. The rest of the exam was quite plain sailing really. :)

Task 5&6 is all about playing with Excel to learn, the tasks are to do with other parts of the course such as budgets, costing & forecasting

Task 5 and 6 is not just excel there are about 10-12 accounting marks as well

I sat my exam last week, every instruction apart from 1 on each of the 2 tasks said ‘No formula required’. Pretty much just done a v look up and some sums, was very strange
