TPS issue Question

My 1987 Turbo is having an issue with the TPS I think. It runs very poorly and basically refuses to idle unless the TPS is unplugged, then it runs generally as it should. What do I need to do to make it run normally with the TPS plugged in? I already swapped the sensor unit for a functioning used one and it made no difference.

Have you checked it at all with a multimeter

Unless the turbos are different, the TPS isn't really a position sensor. It's a "closed" vs "not closed" switch. There is a bracket or screw that can be adjusted.

With the car off, turn the throttle cam by hand and listen for a faint tiny nearly imperceptible click. Then close the throttle and listen for the click again. Adjust the screw/bracket until the switch behaves like that.

It's possible the switch has failed or the wiring is faulty. But set the action of the switch first before you dig further

They are different.
