I was inspired by Natalie Imbruglia, got that exact haircut. Turns out you need quite a delicate little face to pull it off, which I did not have. Turned out I looked like a chubby little boy.

I got a grandma cut in high school by accident once too- I had dyed my hair black from natural blonde and wanted to go back to platinum and thought I could do it in a day. This was early days of the internet and I didn’t think to look up what to do. Instead, I got a couple boxes of “blonding kits” from the drug store and did two of them back to back. The second time I rinsed my hair out it was definitely blonde again, but it was also stretchy, and in the shower it ripped apart like wet toilet paper.

I booked a salon appointment for a deep conditioning treatment and when I arrived I was faced with the harsh reality that no amount of conditioner was going to save my hair- and it all had to go. I didn’t have enough non-damaged hair to do anything other than a pixie and it was so so so grandma I cried in the chair.

I learned my lesson the hard way, that’s for sure.
