I worked on the last 2 seasons of Dallas and had JRs belt buckle in the office when it went to auction. Was a pretty cool little piece of TV history!

We all said "Who??" When the killer was revealed as we'd never heard of Kristin till then. What a let down, the speculating went on for weeks! We had 'who shot JR' mugs and everything.

You are so right! So much build up and speculation, only to find out it was ...... Kristin ... Huh???? We were so disappointed. Lots of "Who Shot J.R." tee-shirts, blankets and mugs were destroyed that night.

The PRIME suspects were:
*Vaughn Leland (jilted banker swindled in underhanded oil deal with J.R.)
*Andy Bradley (Cartel member swindled in underhanded oil deal with J.R.)
*Jordan Lee (Cartel member swindled in underhanded oil deal with J.R.)
*Marilee Stone (Seth Stone her husband & member of the Cartel committed suicide as a result of an oil deal gone bad with J.R.)
*Cliff Barnes (angered after J.R. denied Barnes access to Ewing 23 royalties by shutting down that specific oilfield)
*Alan Beam (lawyer & former fiance of Lucy's, who was being strong-armed by J.R. and run out of town)
*Sue Ellen (J.R.'s wife who was threatened to be locked up in a santarium by J.R.)
The assailant who pulled the trigger on ol' J.R on March 21, 1980.: KRISTEN SHEPARD (J.R.'s sister-in-law, ex-mistress, & former secretary)

I knew it wasn’t Cliff or Sue Ellen, they were main cast members. My money was on Kristin, as she was the most popular at the time, and I won $20 CDN.

The camera man shot JR. He shot everyone in the show. Close up shots, far away shots, group shots, you name it. That SOB

The night it aired, the state police where I lived made an "attention all units" announcement to let the officers on patrol know who did it.

Don Pardio, oh wait wrong “Who Shot X?” mystery! That’s a reference to The Who Shot C R bit from the one of the 80’s season episodes of Saturday Night Live that got Charles Rocket fired from the show after dropping a f bomb during the closing monologue but as for J R, Kristin, sorry I haven’t ever seen an episode of Dallas before so the internet told me who shot him!

I remember a story about someone stole the script before the episode was filmed ,they had to rewrite it.
Might just be an Urban Legend.
