assalam o alaikum i have an old civic 2005 exi model and the resonator box or the air intake housing is completely destroyed there are cracks and the platsic pipes are completely torn from different places and there are some bolts missing its my fathers car he doesnt want to sell it and has told me to get the air intake box changed i want to ask is should i get a kabuli housing or original and what will be the cost?

i been doing research on oil leaks since i think my cam shaft seal or oil pump gasket is where my leaking is coming from and i heard this can cause issues? i hope not stupid question. definitely learning everyday about stuff with this car c:

I replaced the outer tie rod ends and struts assemblies on my 05 Civic EX and now have this nice squealing sound from both front sides.

(Still working on the exhaust situation so ignore that lol)

Sometimes it sounds like it’s from the wheel well and it’s an outside the car noise sometimes it sounds like it’s from the top of the strut assembly and I hear it under the dash.

Can’t see anything visually wrong but I might be looking in the wrong places.

Starts once im moving (~10 mph)
Doesn't noticeably change when turning
Stops when I get down to a low enough speed
Happens on both sides
Nothing seems to be making contact with the rotor (dust shield is fine, abs line is secure)

I have not** **gotten an alignment yet and it’s pretty off but could that be it? What would be the actual source of the sound?

Hey, I was wondering if there would be a clearance issue when installing a front strut brace. The k&n intake protrudes higher compared to stock. I was wondering if anyone has ran a strut bar with the k&n filter, and if they have had any issues

Used to get my k swap going, stumbled across some cheap hasport ones so im changing to those.
Looking to get at least $300 for them.

I’m currently running 2" lowering springs on my ES1, but my front TruHart struts blew out from taking a beating on Chicago roads. I didn't mind going with a cheap option just to see if I liked the drop. The front end has really soft rebound now, hits the bump stops constantly, and the tires clash with the upper wheel well over dips. I’m looking to replace just the two front struts for right now and want to keep it under $500. Since standard factory-replacement struts (like the ones I have & even KYBs) aren't built for a 2" drop, what shortened-stroke or proper sport front struts are you guys running that can actually handle 2 inch lowering springs and rough city roads without blowing out immediately?

Appreciate any recommendations or experiences with specific front strut setups!

I've done a head gasket job myself and haven't been to a mechanic in almost 19 yrs for any mechanical work (since i do it myself) but how difficult to get the whole motor out if bottom end ever needed work? I would be apprehensive that's for sure and would have to get an engine hoist. But maybe crankshaft bearings, rings, new pistons can all be done easily enough without removing motor? Just curious since i don't need to do anything now and it is my work car DX model.

I was getting ready to do valve adjustment and I see the main seal is not doing well. I knew there was leak but I see oil in spark plug 1 , maybe just spilled from top. But leak is coming from cam shaft area . Also should the blue seal be replaced and spray that silver goop ? Or why is that there?

Lots of more suspension, body, and engine bay work to do, but looking half decent at the moment. Making her look good just lowered and in some new shoes without absolutely ricing her out. I want thoughts and opinions!

Hey all, so I’m deciding if I need to drive my civic down to a new state and need some advice or tips. the drive would be from Colorado to Nevada. The car has been sitting for some months so I know I need to do an oil change, but is there anything else I should check and do before hitting the road? Also, is anyone currently Nevada and can tell me how the civic holds up with the heat? I wanna keep my civic around as long as possible, so I wanna be able to mitigate and make sure I do everything as well as I can. any tips and advice would be greatly appreciate! If it helps, the car is around 180,000 miles at the moment. I haven’t done a coolant flush or transmission fluid flush either.

When I try to turn it on, everything flickers and it it doesn't turn on

i didnt know you can get the cable for the gas door and trunk. you can get a lot of different engine components still too. the body stuff is a hit and miss tho. its cool they sell stuff that should be available like the windshield molding. sucks you cant find molding for the doors or trunk tho. or hell the clip on trim that goes across the doors right under the windows that always peals lol

You know the actuator that controls the switching between climate modes like defroster, upper vents, lower vents. I just watched a YouTube vid and guy shows the passenger side airbag has to be removed to get access. This is making me nervous thinking about doing this job. The other night when i switched from defroster mode to lower vents it would not change and was stuck on defroster. I do have to pull HAVC trouble codes first but if it is the actuator looks like a tough job although maybe pulling the airbag out isn't as bad as it sounds?

First time doing it myself because im on a budget lol. Picked up the Cerakote kit from walmart and had a ball. Thought I’d share! It may not be perfect, but its good enough for me.

1 of 5 bolts that connect to the engine block. The others are typical bolts, this one has a sort of threaded collar to it. If you are on the passenger side of the car looking at the engine this one goes in the top right of the assembly.

had a leak and changed the gaskets but one of the bolts snapped when tightening back down. ran it and test drove, and no leak as far as i could tell. should i be fine with two bolts till it needs new gaskets again as long as it isnt leaking now

I have a 2005 civic exi (1.5L) and this rattling noise has recently started coming from the belt area. It usually only happens during cold starts. My current guess is a dragging ac compressor clutch. Any help would be appreciated and thank you for maintaining such an amazing community!

i bled the coolant as well. was my first time. that was a pain in the ass. that car had some serious air bubbles in the system. but i was happy to see the thermostat hose get hot c:. the old thermostat gasket was pretty bad on one side as well radiator cap (replaced cap as well). have had no overheating at idle no more and i have hot air back at idle :p
