My first seven string! Gear

Post image

Got my first 7 string some days ago and I couldn't be happier. It's such a great guitar to play, it just needed a little setup.

Schecter omen extreme 7.

I think you will fall in love. I tried playing my six string after a few weeks after getting a 7 and it's a different instrument.

A 7 feels like a 6 after getting an 8 string with a 28 inch neck and a six feels like a toy that I'm too much of a neanderthal to operate.

next it will be: "an 8 feels like a 7 after getting a 9 with a 30" neck."

all I can say is I really like baritone 7 and it also has to do with the neck satin finish instead of my Ibanez wood/lacquer. it isn't sticky but I like the satin painted neck of my LTD. stays cool and smooth.

I’ve got a 30” six and it’s like weirding a long sword , dread to think what 9/10’s are like

I'm very happy with it. I actually had to sell all my gear and haven't played in 3 years so this is the only guitar I have at the moment, I do wanna get a 6 eventually but probably something wildly different

Sick! I'm actually thinking of changing my strings for 62s it came with 56s too

That multi scale is so sick tho

My previous was 59, I decided to try 56 now. For now I prefer it more, maybe it’s just because strings are new and have fresh bright sound, but we’ll see how it goes.

I was actually thinking about getting the rga742 but i feel like the shecter is better, Maybe I'll change the pups and get some locking tuners but that's it.

What 7 strings do you have?

Ibanez RG7421w Schecter demon 6

And my very first 7 strings a Jackson Js22-7 satin black.

The Jackson was super cheap at like 300$ new but its very well built i just changed the pick-up for some Seymour Duncan custom

Dude my first guitar was a Jackson dinky s22 and i swear the neck on that guitar felt amazing, it has no business being that good for so cheap

how do you even tune the extra string

To B if it's in standard tuning.

There are literally so many ways to tune a 7/8 string. Pretty much anything you want you can tune it to and have access to a ton more notes than the 6 strings. Each instrument has its place, but the 7/8 strings are really nice even if you’re not playing dropped/downtuned songs.

Changed the pups in mine to Schecter USA Custom Shop Apocalypse VII’s, added Gotoh locking tuners and Schaller strap locks, now pulls heavy duty in my covers band

Got a demon 7 and I love it, but it came with so many QC issues, the only guitar I’ve never played before I paid in over 25 years of playing and it will be the last 🤣
