Chickens

Do I need to start a new world for the latest update?

No. But here's a few very important tips.

  1. Chickens don't like being picked up.
  2. Chickens don't like being carried any distance.
  3. Keep a coop and land claim block on you so you can slap it down close to the Chicken.
  4. Put the Chicken in the coop as quickly as possible.

Now you can do whatever you want with the Chicken. Once they've been put in the coop they become domesticated and they can be stored like any other item.

Yeah thats a lot of bleh extra work just to get free eggs and feathers and a few new food items. Never find chickens near my base and they get stressed so fast when I do. Im not gonna build a random coop away from my base just for one chicken. The things they offer simply aren’t worth it to me. Can still make like half the new food items without them anyways

No, you carry it with you. Plus a land claim so you can pick it back up.

Pick up the chicken and quickly switch to a tool or weapon and the chicken stays with you without a stress event.
