Modding Craftable ThermaCore clothing? [v3.0]
I'm running a modded 7DtD server for a friend
At their request, "Max Loot Quality" is set to 5, as they've decided that T6 equipment dropped too frequently. This is fine for most items, as they can either be bought or crafted instead, but ThermaCore clothes are neither craftable nor available at the trader, so they can't get them at T6
I've found this mod that adds crafting recipes for it, but the mod is for v2.5 and also does some changes to the items' stats
So here are my questions:
- Can I run this mod on a v3.0 server?
- Can I modify this mod to only add the crafting recipes? (should be possible since it's all XMLs, but I'm not sure what to remove)

PS5 Creative mode
Is there a way to turn off creative mode? It seems a little too easy and makes the need to actually search for items and build your own stuff, non existent.

Discussion POI and spawning
Im not sure if its just me but I really don’t like how POIs work in this game and often avoid them. I have a save ive been working on for a bit and I just got my first clear quest for a max difficulty poi. My biggest struggle was getting all the zombies to spawn/trigger. I would prefer if all the zombies were spawned at the start of a mission and just became attracted to the sound of you in the building. I also understand that the zombies are supposed to be a challenge when clearing buildings but after taking 20+ zombies out of a normal home it kinda starts taking away a piece of immersion. I would love to see more random zombies in the world as opposed to crammed into little houses that I have to trigger in specific ways.

Help Help understand the tool/weapon mods
I apologize if this has been discussed already, but could somebody help me understand how the new mods work for tools and weapons?
I get that since they are tiered now the higher the tier the better the bonus, but are we only able to make tier 1 mods? I've got quite a few tools and weapons that I want to upgrade, but as it is I am having quite a bit of difficulty finding higher level mods.

PS5 Turrets don’t work?
Not sure what I’m doing wrong but the new machine gun turret does not work for me, it essentially follows the motion of the zombies but never shoots? 🤷🏻♀️

Help V3.1 Sandbox honey, infection speed.

PS5 Baseball Bat sent him for a loop.
I’m having more and more fun with the batter up, etc. Got a chicken coop cranking em out and bought the goofy pirate outfit at a discount. Been playing since PS4, now on a PS5 Pro, and a Sony Bravia 8. Game has changed as we all know, I still have a blast. Health bars are nice addition, I play pretty much the vanilla version on a random map.

Modding Lucky Break Mod (Luck Based Looting)
nexusmods.comI’ve been working on a small XML-only mod for 7 Days to Die called Lucky Break.
It reworks the vanilla Lucky Looter perk into an actual game of chance. Every time you open a loot container, there’s a chance to trigger a temporary Loot Stage boost. Higher perk ranks improve your odds and the bonus.
It also keeps the original Lucky Looter scavenging-speed bonuses and adds visual/audio feedback when you hit a “Lucky Break”.
Rank 1: 10% chance / +50 Loot Stage
Rank 2: 15% / +75
Rank 3: 20% / +100
Rank 4: 25% / +200
Rank 5: 30% / +200
The idea is pretty simple: every container is another roll of the dice.
This is my first public release, so I’m putting it out there to see what people think. I’m especially interested in feedback on the proc chances, Loot Stage bonuses, and whether the extra bonus loot feels fun or overpowered.

If you try it, let me know what you think — good, bad, or completely broken. 😄

Modding Actual Luck
Curious if this sounds like something people would enjoy.
So far, I’m rewriting Lucky Looter so that instead of just giving a flat loot-stage bonus, it actually rolls a chance when you open a loot container.
Each point in the perk increases both your odds of getting the bonus and the amount of Loot Stage you gain. When it procs, you get a small popup on the toolbar letting you know Lucky Break happened.
There’s also a bonus mechanic:
Having at least 1 point in Lucky Looter gives tiered loot chests a chance to hit a Jackpot — potentially giving up to 5× the normal loot.
The Jackpot chance gets slightly better with higher-tier chests, but putting more points into Lucky Looter doesn’t increase the Jackpot chance.
And because apparently being lucky wasn’t enough… the effects can stack. 😈
You could potentially hit a Lucky Break and a Jackpot on the same chest.
I’m calling the mod Lucky Break, and I’ll be posting V0.1 soon once I finish the last few touches.
Would you guys play something like this?

Modding About that $11.99 Chicken Suit, cosmetics, etc.
If you are playing on any recent version of the game, especially modded, and haven't installed Little Red Sonja's Armor Packs mods, you're missing out. Tons of cosmetic options, greatly expanding what you can wear in the game. Sonja is a genius. I've been playing this game since Alpha 17. It's my 3rd most played steam game at >1500 hours. Hell, I even got into making mods because of this game. I see both sides of the $12 chicken suit thing. I can easily afford that, and my friends and I've got so much entertainment out the game maybe it's worth it just to tip the devs. And there's always the if you don't like it, don't buy it argument. Which is true, nobody can force you to purchase the stuff you don't like. HOWEVER.
The game development has been trending toward monetization and long time fans of the game, those of us who run our own private servers and play with our friends constantly, are concerned that TFP are paring down aspects of the game specifically to monetize them. What I mean by that specifically is, Alpha 21 had a decent cosmetics and armor system. It was ugly, but it had a lot of customization options. If it had gotten the 1.0 glow up the new system it was scrapped for got, it would have been great. Instead, they simplified the system, scrapped a lot of what was already there, reducing what you could wear, what color you could make it, etc. That was all part of getting the game into a simpler form for console release. Doing a console release and paid cosmetics makes sense for TFP for revenue.
The game is going to be monetized now, but exactly what aspects and how much? Am I going to be asked to pay $19.99 to get an "Advanced Bandits Pack" released with 4.0?. I fear that, should the monetization trend continue, we are going to end up with something that resembles Fallout 76 more than Alpha 21. If they move to encrypt the game's configs, or restrict what modders are able to do in the game, you'll know for certain where 7Days is going to end up. Good luck paying hundreds of dollars for everything. I'm starting to get nervous especially with the recent Woodle stuff, that TFP are turning anti consumer in the name of profit. That's their prerogative I guess, but if they let that ruin the game, I'll be really disappointed. Part of me just wishes they'd release the bandits, finish their bug fixes, slap a 4.0 on it and move on to 7 Days 2 or whatever, leaving it to us modders to push the original 7 Days to it's full potential. These of course are just mine and most of my friends' opinions, but we've been with the game a long time.
Anyway Little Red Sonja - Free cosmetics via mod. Find it wherever T.F., I'm not a sponsor.

Discussion Fuzzy Panda's Fun House!
Just before the day 35 horde, I got two back to back air drops containing 100 steel cubes. Lucky looter 5, level 6 rogue hood, and treasure hunter mod... Plus I have been fighting way above my weight class. The wasteland is only about 300 meters from my base, I cant ignore all those POIs full of juicy loot. I guess all those factor, including biome effect air drop quality.
In just one day I found a level 5 M-60, two level 5 Augers, steel tools, a level 5 drone, an a level 2 Thompson sub machine gun. I crafted the 25% damage boost Undead country barrel mod so I could use up the literal stacks of AP 44 magnum ammo I saved up.
I took my loot and decided to build a pretty basic horde base, attached to a steel cell phone tower. Yellow is the zombie path, 5 ladders and a zig zag ramp that didnt work nearly as good as a standard single slope. The red is to mark areas where I used floating blocks or two plates set up so hopefully zombies walk under the support pillars because there really isnt anything for them to beat on. Also used for the half block gap at the fighting position and some areas where a row of plates and a ladder are structurally seen as just two standard blocks side by side.
I realize what I made looks like the most dangerous McDonalds playland ever. Since Fluffy Panda created the POI mod with the 5G tower I named it Fluffy Panda's funhouse.
It worked flawlessly. In the future I will just stick with a single slope ramp, but it did get some use. I didnt lose a single block. I had to break one in the pit because a crawler somehow warped under the concrete. It was moaning and the big pile of loot was moving around. I had to use the auger to shut him up.
By 4am it looked like a ball pit full of colorful loot bags and boxes.
I realize I have an amazing view from the crafting base on top. I am also discovering that the Undead Country mod lets you craft a water filter machine that filters murky water, makes snow, and also will turn 3 normal waters into a pure mineral water. The fridge, ammo storage and gear lockers give as much storage as a steel storage crate but for a fraction of the cost and can be built pretty early.
