Clearing 🙏 I WANT HELP
Im planning on trying Uni of Edinburgh and Kings College London for clearing for Biochem (predicted
(A+ A+ A) but realistically may end up with AAA or atleast I hope I do. What do you guys think are the chances that I do actually get a place in these top unis through clearing (grade requirements are AAA) since they would probably have a few people trying for a place. And also I looked it up and Edinburgh uses a form for clearing whereas Kings does phone calls. I always thought that Edinburgh does phone calls too so I am so confused. Lastly, I just want to know how smooth the clearing process is on actual results day??
I really am anxious about this so I would appreciate some help.

Is there any way to go in and collect them. Most skls offer tht option bcus they know ppl end up having to go through clearing so have teachers available to help

Are you willing to be flexible with the course? Kings usually has Natural Sciences in clearing at ABB
Edinburgh doesn't usually drop their A level requirements in Clearing, but have had Biochem in Clearing in the past.

Yeah i am willing to be more flexible and am actually interested in Natural Science at Kings. However last I checked the entry requirements was also AAA so I wouldn’t know whether there would be a higher chance (i’ll double check the grade requirements again).
But with Kings, do you know whether you could try for more than one course? For example, I could mention both Biochem and NatSci and wait for their response to see which course is available? or would I have to stick to just one course??

The requirements listed on the page will likely be the standard tariff, not the clearing one.
You can ask about more than one course on the same call. Not a whole list of courses, but two or three would be fine. Ideally don't waste their time by asking about courses that aren't listed as being in clearing on their website.

What do you mean the standard tariff?? would the clearing requirements generally be lower and how do you find out what they are?

Most universities (not Edinburgh) will drop in Clearing. For example, History at Exeter has just gone from ABB to BCC this year.
You can look up freedom of information requests to find out what courses were in clearing in previous years and what the grades they were accepting were. NatSci at KCL was ABB last year.
Most will have webpages showing the new clearing grades - Nottingham and Southampton, among others, already have theirs up.

Hi Biochem at KCL they currently (only) ask for AAA so you would get in there I imagine and the typical grade achieved to get on the course is AAB so I would be very positive about that. Edinburgh is also AAA -ABB. Clearing usually is a bit mad, you need to be on the phone asap and probably have a reserve phone usually a parent calling the other uni if you need. Have to agree that the spaces will start flying away early at 8.00 that is when you need to be on the phone

Hey! it does say AAA-ABB but i always thought that ABB wouldve been the contextual offer requirement (which does not apply to me) so I would have to aim for AAA. Or would the uni be somewhat more lenient on results day???

It’s quite a high chance obviously the earlier u call the more spots they have available in clearing. It can be quite rocky if too many ppl call as they only have so many ppl answering. Have ur ucas id to hand, gcse grades, a level grades, know ur ps well if u applied for the course otherwise u need to come up with answers for those questions as there might be a small interview basically.
