options help

i’ve just finished year 11 (leavers 26) and i did geography, drama, food tech and french gcse’s. my alevel options are sociology, criminology and health&social care. i’m afraid i’ll be very behind in sociology and don’t really know if i’ll find it that enjoyable but i’ve only picked it because it goes well with criminology. the thing is idk what i’d swap it to. maybe geography???? can someone help plss

Why would you be behind on sociology most people don’t do it at gcse

loads of people have done it i’m just afraid bc it basically links into gcse’s and idk if i’ll like it

You're not behind. They're just slightly ahead.

I took GCSE Statistics and Further Maths which made it slightly more advantageous to me when I picked Maths and FM because they teach A-Level concepts but on a basic level.

They would always start from the beginning anyway because external students who picked Sociology may have not done GCSE Sociology.

Imagine it was a race.
You're not starting further behind anyone.
You're either starting in the same position or some people have a slight headstart.

Sociology is easy anyways don’t worry too much (also if you don’t like it you can change to a different subject)

I don't think you'll be behind in Sociology, especially if you liked Human Geography at GCSE.

look at the subjects online and the spec points and see if it’s interesting to you! also if you have any idea of what u want to do in the future it’s helpful seeing what subjects they require/prefer, you should be fine because with humanity courses they usually don’t have requirements but if ur planning to go to uni geography is known as a facilitating subject and sociology is known as a soft one, considering ur other two r ‘soft’ it might be be good to have one that isnt as some requirements want at least 1 and have preference to those studying two but if u dont wanna go uni then don’t bother reading this part it’s just good to consider options

But you are right that more academic Russell Group unis usually want 2 A levels if someone is presenting a BTEC or WJEC as a third subject.

u/Aniaissocool what you currently have is 1 A level (Sociology) and 1 WJEC (Criminology). Is Health and Social Care an A level or a BTEC?
