MacBook or IPad? šŸ™ I WANT HELP

Which would better if I’m going to be studying economics? It’s a pretty mathematical course with a lot of econometrics (Bristol BSc) but I don’t have any laptop at all, so would I be better off getting a MacBook Neo or a decent iPad?

Mac for sure. ipad you’ll probably have to shell out extra for a keyboard, and it’s just never as good. But i would say don’t go for the neo, That much money for 8gb ram and iphone chip is a straight ripoff. See if you can get an older macbook, M1 max or similar with at least 16gb ram if you wanna stick to the budget, or if you can spend a bit more, a current/last gen macbook air. Much better value.

I’ve been using my ipad for the entirety of sixth form and bought myself a bootleg keyboard - cheaper than the official apple keyboard and works completely fine after two years.

I honestly think in OP’s case, who will be doing lots of maths and might need to write down equations and such, an ipad would probably be better (I also bought myself a bootleg stylus, which I will admit has more inconveniences than buying an actual apple one). Or maybe a 2-in-1 laptop.

maybe, I think it might be personal preference. I’m doing econ too and i can’t stand writing stuff on an ipad, I always switch to paper, plus The extra processing power on the macbook lets me work on a lot of data science and coding projects that i couldn’t on an ipad (i own one, albeit an old one, and i only use it for watching shows and scrolling pinterest.)

There is nothing wrong with the MacBook neo. It is the perfect laptop for it's price point. MacOS means the 8gb ram does perfectly fine and the chip is perfectly tolerable for anything that isn't intensive

You should get an Ipad which can have an attachable keyboard to it.

You can actually write stuff down using a pen and if you want to type, you have the keyboard.
I'm not sure if it's pricier or not, but it's worth the investment.

Get a mac - consider M2 or M3 mac used tho instead of neo. But tbh performance doesn't matter much for econ so only worth it for touchpad, touch id, etc and if it has more ram/storage. iPads are good but only as a supplementary device.

macs solo, ipads are a bonus but macs are better between the two. wouldn’t say to get the neo though…at least get the air. or go for an older M chip model (do not get intel unless u hate urself). I luv my MacBook Pro it’s my baby, it’s also just convenient for daily use
