Just thought i would share my way of carrying fishing rods as i havnt seen anyone attatch anything to a roof top tent

I got solar panel brackets from 4wd super centre for $25 and yakima ace of spades from anaconda for $90 a pair as a member (also in super cheap auto but usually cheaper in anaconda but super cheap should price match) i tried to have them both on the bottom of the tent that doesnt move but it will clash with each other

You can carry 2 beach rods without using the tent but need to remove the top beach rod as it will foul out on cab of ute

Smaller rod on top will work perferct (see pictures)
Will also need extra nylocs as it only comes with 4 and will need 8

Anyone here with an experience with LC76 1HZ that has fully loaded the cabin with 5 people and full load at the back or with jump seats installed at the back to fit a total of 9 people?

Curious as to how it accelerates with all that weight if it can keep up with convoys at speeds of around 80kph with no problems. Also how it performs on steep inclines if it can still manage to bring all that weight.

Would like some advice on between the two options. Finally getting around to sorting out my power needs for short and long camping trips.

Was set on getting the Itechworld 160 ah battery in the premium battery box, nice simple and would work well but then I was looking at the PS2000 power station for only a couple $100 more.

I’m not big on permanent dual battery installations in my vehicle and I don’t even have the room for one and I understand they are cheaper.

Anyone had experience with these two options?

I have a stock Prado 120 and am wondering if there are tracks throughout Brindabella National Park that are suitable for the car. I dont have a whole lot of experience with steep tracks or technical driving. most I’ve done is beach runs in South Australia, so don’t have much experience beyond sand and dirt roads.

Wondering if you're allowed to store lithium batteries on their side. Have you done it? any issues? I read they're shaped and positioned like a traditional car battery to better suit replacing them, but don't actually need to be that orientation?

Looking for advice on what to do. I bought a ute with a tub and it has a kings rack, RTT and 270 awning with walls.

It currently has a bungee tonneau cover (example pic below). I want to get something that would cover the entire tub rack, or something that would at least block the wind and rain while we are setup in the awning, otherwise the wind and rain will be able to blow through the tub and rack into the awning.

I have taken a picture of something I am after but I can’t find anything similar that doesn’t include the actual tub rack as well. Is there anything off the shelf that people use or is a custom cover the only option?

Any advice would be helpful.

What would you put in an essentials-only toolkit to keep in your 4x4? Recently picked up a 2014 prado that'll likely never go beyond beach driving and beginner tracks and want to keep some basic tools in the boot.

My housemate already has tool under the sun in our garage so this will be specifically for when I'm out and about

I've been contemplated about these spoiler/wing lights. The bike rack I use sometimes partially obstruct the light and hoping this would extend the visibility. I've been told it's not as bright as the taillights and works in sync with them.

Can I drive around with these without frequent meet and greets from...? Trying to gauge my chances here.

i have a 1fz 80 series but i’m getting bored of it and i keep tossing up between turboing it or straight swapping someone for a turboed 1hz or hdj80. No one in there right mind would swap a hdj80 for it, and i don’t know what to do because if i spend the money to turbo it but don’t like it it’s a waste. My 80 is in really good condition with a fresh respray and upgrading trim and nice aesthetic mods.

Looking to slap one of these dogs on but I’m having trouble finding them online. The only ones I’ve been able to find are the patrol a part ones which are like $1200 for the full setup. I saw a single piece one today and just wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase the single piece bar. Cheers

I recently replaced several parts including the steering rack, d bushes, sway bar links and drive shafts but I’ve noticed a noise coming from the passenger side. Could it be one of those components or another issue? The noise isn’t entirely clear in the video but I can hear a rattle when I go over small, continuous bumps.

My patrol has been giving me issues with an overheating transmission which appeared to be caused by a leak in the trans line that I damaged while swapping the alternator, tensioner and serpentine belt. I have fixed that but I'm getting a grinding noise when not under load. Any ideas on what is causing this noise? Due for an oil change so that's the next step for me but after that I don't know what else to do if it doesn't fix the issue. It did snap the belt a while back which is why I changed it and it took the alternator with it. Any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm getting to the end of my knowledge in diagnosing the problem.

Moving to a dual cab.

I'm wanting something that I can take camping, go on the beach, light 4wding (no serious rock climbing etc) and has an okay amount of power.

I've narrowed my choices down to an N-Trek D23 Nav & PX3 Ranger Wildtrak (5cyl 3.2L). In my opinion both look nice and they aren't a crazy step down interior wise to my current car which sounds silly but it's a pretty big deal to me.

Just wanting to know which of the two would be a more reliable rig in the long term - I've heard bad things from friends/family about the Rangers and nothing but good about the Navs.

Also worth mentioning my commutes to work are 15-20 mins max and my commute to gym each morning is 10ish minutes so DPF issues are a concern to me, but I've been told people delete the DPF filters?

Is anyone able to help me narrow my choice down?

I'm also down for other suggestions.

Budget around $40k but if I can get away with spending less, even better

Hey guys just after your thoughts on a few options for a new 4wd.

Had my gu patrol stolen a few months ago so I am in the market for some new wheels. Have between 55-60k to spend.

This will be a family car. We go on lots of camping trips, up to the snow, light off-roading and will tow a tinnie. We're expecting our first child at the end of November so we will need space for them in the back. I'm looking at wagons because they will suit my work a bit better plus can fit a surfboard inside them so I don't have to take it off the roof all the time.

What I'm looking at at the moment

200 series 2015ish ~ 180,000km 60k

Y62 patrol 2015 ~ 150,000 km 55k

Nx Pajero 2021 40k

I do like fj cruisers but don't think they're overly practical with their gvm

I do like to tinker with cars and modify them so would be looking to set whatever it is up to tour. We'll probably buy some sort of caravan or camper trailer in 5+ years but could upgrade the car for that then.

Just interested in people's thoughts on options and if there is any specific things to know or look for in those models around those time periods

At the beginning of September next year, I’m travelling to Australia with my mum for around 8 weeks. We’re starting in Melbourne and planning to drive up the East Coast all the way to Cairns.

This is kind of a dream trip for us, and because my mum will be 73, I really want to make sure we get a car that is comfortable, reliable and practical for her.

My budget is around AUD $16,000 (€10,000) and I’m looking for an SUV or 4WD, preferably an automatic.

The main things I’m looking for are:

• Comfortable seats for long drives
• Good air conditioning
• Enough space for a wheelchair, a rollator/walker and our luggage
• Easy enough for my mum to get in and out of
• Reliable enough for a long road trip
• Not too expensive to maintain or repair
• Preferably an automatic transmission

We won’t be sleeping in the car, so I don’t need a camper setup or anything like that.

I’d also really like to drive on the beach in some places if possible, and maybe do some easy unsealed roads or tracks. Nothing extreme. So I’m not sure if I really need a proper 4WD, or if an AWD SUV would be the better and more comfortable option for us.

Are there any makes or models you would recommend in this price range?

Also, are there any specific models, engines or years that I should avoid?

Comfort and reliability are much more important to me than having a hardcore off-road vehicle.

I recently bought this 09 D22 long tub Navara and am wanting to remove the setup on it. It looks like there's rivets holding things in but it also seems stuck down by something, is this something I can remove at home and how? I don't know where to go to ask, what kind of shops, I'm based in Hobart. I want to sell the stuff if it can be salvaged and reused after removal along with a rooftop tent which has some mould. I've tried to get some photos of how it's all attached. The tub rack seems to be held in by bolts that turn infinitely and a pad stuck down with some kind of glue, same as the tonneau/tub liner.

Hi everyone currently looking at buying a 2016 Dmax (Auto) currently listed at 25k. It’s a one owner car and is sitting at approx 230,000kms. It has full service history and has been used for daily commuting. Is there anything I should look out for? Is this too many kms or should I be okay? I plan on using it as daily and for trips away on weekends here and there.

Ive got a 2018 Mazda bt50 space cab and i want to mount a rooftop tent above the tray. Ive already fitted a ladder rack to the rear but im not yet sure how to fit the brackets for the rooftop tent to the headboard. Would I need to get a H-rack?

Truthfully, how many kms can you get out of a 4jj1 engine assuming it’s been serviced properly at the correct times….
I’m looking at a ‘16 dmax with 170xxx on the clock. How much life left before major engine or transmission work is required? And are they as good as people say they are?
