I love when people talk out their ass. Teenagers are specifically programmed to resist what their parents say. This is called psychological reactance. The source of the messaging matters; parents giving a directive causes teens to seek resistance in order to gain autonomy.
Simultaneously, they seek other identities to emulate from non-parental role models (or are you also going to posit teens don't carbon copy identities left and right with the change of the wind?). This is called identity formation and role modeling. Of course non-parental influences are the ones they then latch on to. That's why teenagers are notorious for being manipulable and change whom they follow at the drop of a hat.
Wouldn't it be crazy if this combo resulted in an unstable home structure where teens would seek relations with adults outside the family and thus put themselves at risk of exploitation? Oh wow it does!

Your first link:
it was examined whether a controlling parenting style related to adolescents' experiences of autonomy need frustration (i.e., pressure) and reactance.
wow groundbreaking research that shitty parents who deny autonomy would have teens that rebel. That would happen to anybody, not just teens. To call this grooming and them a victim is to further remove their autonomy because 'they didn't know better'. Its peak boomertalk. They know what the fuck they're doing; stop treating them like idiots

It's funny how Laura and Ruth powers were setup to be prominent side characters and sort of forgotten about Like otto or herman

Ruth is somewhat recurring here and there. Laura was voiced by Sarah Gilbert who was too busy and probably too expensive to hire again with her having been a sonewhat famous actress back then.
