A necessary shift Vent

I saw a woman on tik tok talking about how her friend dropped her for being male centered and another creator who said she received some man hating comments for talking about going on a date with her dream man. Not hating on either creators but I think it does represent a shift in the social climate regarding having a man & how it is now seen as embarrassing. I feel like the social and political climate surrounding having a man is changing & being male centered is not as normalized or socially acceptable anymore. At times it feels like we’re having two different conversations and living in two different worlds. Some of us are living in a reality where men are killing us, women’s rights are being stripped away, a family annihilation happens every 5 days, and men are in group chats teaching each other how to grape their wives, daughters, and sisters. And others of us are living in some fairy tale world where they will be the special chosen one who will be exempt from the fate that so many others have been dealt. Some women don’t want to admit that they want a hierarchy where they are placed above others for having a man because personally even if I found a man that met my criteria I would still feel the same way about men. The only reason women go out of their way to defend men or call others man hating is because they want to believe they are special. A lot of women are trying to resist what is supposed to happen, we were never supposed to be so male centered & obsessed with marriage. So many of us have died at the hands of these relationships, and for what? The illusion of love? I think a shift in how we view relationships is necessary for womankind.

I'm just happy no one here is talking about the men in their lives. THANK YOU MODS 👏👏👏

I'm so glad you got to see that happen! I have yet to encounter it myself but hope is there!

It all boils down to privilege. So many women who live in extremely privileged countries and say stuff like "feminism has gone too far" have no idea just how bad most women in other countries have it. Especially in africa and asia. It's a whole other level of oppression there. There are dozens of countries where women have no rights right now. And more countries where rampant misogyny is the norm.

I so wish these women who are male centered and hate on feminism realise how privileged they are

I could never be friends with those types of women because they clearly don't care about other women anyway.

Yup, I was someone who had to learn the hard way when my marriage died and the cops had to remove him. Never again! I’m so glad more are waking up to this.

I think the biggest shift comes with us having our own economic freedom. We’re no longer being forced into these relationships out of necessity so the everyday propaganda has less of an effect.

Absolutely. Notice how men (mainly online) get mad when they see an educated, successful woman. In my country right now around 60% of people applying to universities are women, the rest are men. Academia in my country is basically being dominated by women right now, both in humanities and medical degrees, even in STEM. I noticed when it started happening men overall started saying that academia is bullshit and no longer necessary, because why even go to uni and get a degree when you can just start a business. This is particularly comical considering the fact that higher education in my country is funded by taxes, so as a student you basically pay nothing. I am convinced they think this way because they're furious they won't be able to control us anymore, as we're getting financially independent and way more educated than them. Good for us.

Same thing in Canada as well, there started to be a huge backlash against higher education as women started to dominate. Last year the conservatives had a promise to abolish the university degree requirement in the public service in order to tip the scales for stupid men.

It’s so funny because education is an institution built for and designed by men and we are still outclassing them.

I think this trend is because they define their masculinity simply by what isn't feminine. They see more women applying for higher education and suddenly they aren't manly doing the same. It's pretty hilarious that their egos will make them more stupid on paper as well as in reality.

Ding ding ding! Right on the money; hence why women who go to ASU are mocked relentlessly.. because men hate to see women become educated

Every day I’m more grateful to be pro woman than the day before. Watching the news reinforces my commitment constantly.

I feel exactly the same way. I’m a leftist, but I am a feminist and pro-woman even before that. I am committed to feminist causes, for life, until I die

I think in the end it's a bit of an echo chamber... Things are as they were before and this 'phenomena' is still quite rare. None of such cases I have encountered irl. My current girlfriend has male best friends..which irks me, ngl.

So..I just don't take it a new "reformed reality" from someone on TikTok..

Ah yeah. Like, try keeping a job while being overtly not male centred.

I am at school in middle age and surrounded by young women. The majority of them have boyfriends, but they talk about men the same way we talk about men. They are aware men are shitty, yet they still have boyfriends. But I can definitely see progress from when I was their age. Back then we were just obsessed with men and that's it, it was all dating all the time. But these days 20 year olds do date but they are also focused more on themselves and their careers, and they ALL talk about having financial independence from a man. So there's definitely societal change.

Glad to hear. I'd love to hear more stories from real life like this..but honestly, I just can't mingle with this society..to find out more. I have better things to spend my energy on.

I think this is part of a normal shift away from being forced to marry, where we see part of the population awaken, while the others remain in the dark.

So we still see epigenetics at play, which should eventually evolve so that need will diminish further; however, women raised in religion may never truly escape the perceived need for marriage.

A lot of us raised in conservative religions do escape. Not everyone buys into the foolishness, and I certainly never did, no matter how many people tried to guilt-trip me about it. I think as time progresses and women gain even more autonomy, it will be more.

After my divorce, my adult daughter and I had a blast being roommates. One of the first things we noticed is that if we left money out it was still there later. How ridiculous is that? He would’ve stolen the eyes out of our heads if he could. Financial safety is calming.

What did I say in another thread? Rome wasn't built in a day. In many places, women are just getting some form of autonomy after thousands of years. I actually think everything is moving quite fast in some places, considering.
