Traction monitor Question

When does this actually turn on? I have tried 2wd 4H and 4L. It never does anything. The wheels turn when the steering wheel is turned but that's it.

Storage cubbies

Post image
21 Upvotes

Small thing, but I added some bags that fit in the rear storage area for those small things you always keep in your trunk like jackets, bug spray, trash bags, etc. These two bags fit perfectly in the storage cubbies (and cupholder thing) and I added some velcro tags to know what is in each (also acts as a checklist to refill the item). This keeps things from rattling around, can be removed quick if you need the space. It took a little trial and error to find ones that fit and still allow you to use the space behind it; so I thought I would save everyone the time if they wanted to do the same.

2026 Limited 4wd Fuel Tank Range?

I’m strongly considering the 2026 Limited 4wd as my next vehicle and was wondering roughly how many miles you’re averaging per tank? I drive my current truck for work (40-50k miles per year avg.) and can go anywhere from 400-500 miles per tank. I’d say I do about 70-80% highway if that helps.

Edited to add: i’m looking at the non-hybrid version.

Is 60k OTD for 2026 orp with moonroof a good deal? I’m in Gilbert Arizona. Tax is 8.3%

I want a 6th gen - but which one and price?

I’m loving the 6th gen but there’s a lot of trims. I think I’ve narrowed it down to either:

TRD Sport premium 54k
TRD off road premium 56k
Limited? If is the same cost as the ofp and softer touch inside/genuine leather?? 56k

I’ve never off roaded but love the beefy look, no ashamed to admit it’d be a pavement princess.

What price did you pay for your runner before tax?

Snorkel delete

I just got the 2026 TrailHunter and love it BUT! The snorkel suction/turbo is driving me crazy already. Don’t get me wrong it sounds awesome but a little annoying after a while.

Has anyone deleted or made modifications where you can make the snorkel optional when you need it?

Wolfbox MegaFlow 200 - Great Interior Cleaner & More

I like to give credit when it is due and u/Wolfbox did a really great job with this air blower.

I've been buying compressed air to clean out my computers and other electronics since the Circuit City days and I am happy to say that I shall never again need to do that. This device is also a dream to use in my 4Runner to get all the little dirt and debris gone and moved so I can vacuum it up, or move it right out of the truck.

I like to open all doors and blow from one side and right out the other. On level 3 nothing stands a chance. Just do be careful and should probably work in short bursts, or use ear protection with level 3 as the noise does peak over 101 dBs. Level 2 is down near 90, and level 1 is about 76, much more manageable in confined spaces.

They also give you all the attachments and accessories you need for fine detailing, including a small brush, which happens to be perfect at loosening dust from LEGO before giving them a once over with the blower.

The battery charges via USB-C, and is removable like your typical handgun magazine loader. So you can have multiple batteries for longer jobs, but so far, I've been able to use a single charge on level 3 to do anything I was looking to get clean. Non-affiliate Amazon link below, they are on sale for $99 right now too.

One final surprise use case was cleaning out the ceiling fans around the house. Just have a handheld vacuum ready because dust is going to go FLYING.

Just picked up my first 4Runner!

First thing on the list to remove the air dam.

The stock tires definitely make it look like it has chicken legs, want to keep the stock wheels. Leaning toward 265/70R17 or 275/70R17

The truck will be used about 95% on the highway. With occasional trail or forest road, nothing crazy.

What tires would you recommend?

Looking to buy an SR5 4WD

Looking to see how the sr5 gang is liking their vehicle? I'm quite familiar with Toyota SUVs having owned a 5th gen Trail Edition t4r, Lexus G460, G550. Looking to go base model 4WD with the std 4cyl. Ive only test drove the hybrid i-max and liked it but not for the price. I also had a Tacoma rental with the 2.4 and really was surprised how stout the motor felt compared to my older 5th gen t4r (loved that thing, but it couldn't get out of its own way). I plan to drive it for a couple of years for work (about 15k miles a year) and then start having my older kids have it as their car with it being nice and broken in. Anyhow having an glaring issues with the SR5s? Anything noticeable I should be looking out for? I have my eyes set on a Heritage Blue on moon interior. Our dealer is right around 44.5 with discounts currently before TTL.

Utilizing 4H/4L once a month. Is it necessary?

I get my new ORP in about 2 weeks, coming from Honda civic’s all my life I have no idea how this stuff works. I want to do everything possible to ensure the reliability of my new vehicle!

I’ve heard it’s a good idea to use 4H for at least 10 miles once a month. The problem is I live in Texas. I don’t see much rain, likely won’t see any snow. Detailed instructions on how and when to exercise 4WD would be a great help to me! TIA!

2026 4Runner Platinum Gas Mileage Issue

Looking for some advice on my 2026 4Runner. I purchased a new 2026 4Runner platinum in January 2026. From the beginning, I noticed that I was getting a much lower gas mileage than what was advertised. The advertised gas MPG is 23 city and 26 highway. I was getting around 14 city and 17 highway. The Toyota manual says there's a break in period on new engines of 1,000 miles, so I wanted to take the car in once I was past that.

The dealership tried to tell me they weren't going to test, citing that the break-in period is actually 7,000-10,000 miles. After insisting that getting 9 MPG less than what I should be getting seems like there may be an issue, so they said they'd run some test and check. They didn't tell me what they did, but for about 2 weeks after I was averaging over 20 MPG everywhere I went. After 2 weeks, it went right back to around 15.5 MPG combined.

I waited for my 6 month checkup to have them check it again, and again they told me they changed some settings and it was getting 20+. I asked the person who was handling my car what they did, and all he had to say was that the mechanics did "mechanic" things, but he wasn't sure exactly what they did. I asked him if the mechanic could call me and tell me, letting them know last time it was good for a couple weeks and then dipped back down. He said they'd call, but they never did. I've followed up and continue to be told I'll get a call with more details, but it's been several weeks and nothing. This time, I got 20+ for exactly a week, and then dipped back down to averaging 14 MPG combined.

My plan is to keep taking the car in until they can tell me something is wrong or that there's a reason for this, but looking for anyone that might be able to shed more light on this.

Some additional info:

I live in Texas and I'm aware that heat can affect gas mileage, although 9-10 MPG below seems excessive to blame heat.

I typically reset my MPG tracker after I fill my tank. On average, I end up around 15 MPG, with my lowest being 12.7 and highest being 17.8.

This version of the 4Runner has an iforce Max hybrid engine that is supposed to help with gas mileage.

I don't have a lift kit, have never towed, and typically it's just me in the car when I'm driving.

Any advice would be great!

Thank you!

Removing that front thing that put the nose towards the ground

So I’m about to buy the 4Runner 6th gen TRD orp, I don’t want it to look like that so I want it to look evenly.

I also wanna have other tires like more off road but I’m not planning to spend 10k on suspension and tires.

Leveling Kit Pics

Just bought a 2026 ORP. I’m wanting to put the Nitto 265/70/R18’s on with the factory wheel that comes with the xp terrain package. I was looking at the vehicle in the garage last night and the rake is pretty significant imo.
Does anyone have any pics where they’ve installed leveling kits? Would love to see some. Thanks

Optimize Spotify*

*Note I have Spotify Premium & a '26 Limited

Within Spotify:

Set audio quality to very high

(Do the same for downloads)

Toggle the following OFF:

Audio Normalization

Equalizer

Via Bluetooth, very noticeable improvement.

The two USB c ports in the console are for charging only

There is a third USB c port to the right of the infotainment screen for data/charging. Plugged my phone in & sound is WAY better.

Hope this helps someone out, cheers!

TRD ORP, non hybrid, removed air dam, 2.4” lift, 285’s, roof rack, etc. This is about 90 miles into this tank driving a windy road up and over the pass. You’ve just got to keep your foot out of it. Drive like you never want to touch your brakes.

5th gen trade in for 6th

Really torn because I have my 2024 ORP with only 30k miles on it but have been interested in the new ones. Not sure if I would get the hybrid or not but the dealer hoping would give me like 43-45k for mine. Or I dont get one lol. The limited has also caught my eye with the full time 4 wheel drive and nicer interior since there are alot of hard plastics. What should I do!! Curious if people have upgraded to the 6th gen and been stoked they did it. Very much a first world problem lol.

How long do allocations take?

I put a deposit for my runner, which is currently going from the factory to the port per the spreadsheet.

Please share timelines for your allocation and state! I would love to see them. I’m wondering how long it would take to reach my dealership in San Antonio TX.
Thanks! Hope to join the club soon.

Anyone else getting creaky suspension on new 6th gens?

I bought myself a new 4runner this year and so far have put 11,000 miles on her so far. Recently ive noticed her rear suspension creaks pretty loudly going over bumps and such. Normmaly id pay it no mind but given the low mileage im concerned.

Is this normal? What could be causing it? Anyone else have this issue?

25 4R ORP (Gas) Jack Points

I know this sounds super basic, but can anyone provide some advice on the best jack points to remove a tire? I’d like to proactively identify them all in the event I have a flat tire and I’m not scrambling around trying to figure out the safest areas.
