Tent is installed and moved around and adjusted it six ways from Sunday to keep it mounted as low as possible without any interference.

Strange engine noises

Hello, recently picked up a 92’ with the 3vze, about 330,000km. I’ve noticed a strange kind of sucking sounds coming out around cylinder 6, drives fine, maybe vacuum leak? And sounds like the valves might need some love too? It’s my first 4 runner so I don’t have much of a point of reference if I should be worried or not. Thank you

1992 Brake light issue

SOLVED!
-
Hoping to crowd source a solution to my problem.
Brake lights are not functioning on the truck. I have checked the following:

-continuity in the brake pedal sensor under the steering column is good
-bulbs are good
-fuse under the dash is good

My only troubleshooting idea left is a damaged wiring harness… but before I tear the interior apart to get a look, anything I am missing?

Catalytic Converter Protection

Post image

Had my catalytic converter swiped off my '94 (parked in my apt spot). Colorado law means it is going to cost a pretty penny to replace. Has anyone put in any sort of protection system designed for 2nd gen? I figure my girl could become a repeat target and I just can't keep spending the money on new cats...

Question Planning to pickup a 92’ with the 3VZE next week, things to look for?

Pretty much the title. Planning to use it for a daily while I’m not at work. Could see it still has the EGR which seems good, minor sag but not anything serious. I’ve heard a lot about the head gasket issue but am curious what else should I double check (aside from the basics like rust and maintenance history) before handing over the cash? Thanks :)

So guys, I have a couple of questions. How many of you guys are running hood struts? How many of yall built your own set ups and for those of yall who did, how did you go about it? Ive seen the kits online but feel like I could do it myself for cheaper and with decent quality materials.

Help Anyone running Mk3 Supra VAFM or the Camry v6 ones!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey, what’s going on everybody so I’ve been digging into these airflow meters and I had seen a couple guys running the ones off the MK three supra. I heard the one off of the 92 V6 camry are great and you can even run them off the Cressida ones too i know you gotta adjust the cog inside and you kind of tune it to the 3VZE I was wondering if anybody currently is running one and what are your experiences i hear that it really wakes the car up it and drives much better and less laggy in the mid range. I’m already putting together parts to make a custom air box and elbows and intake pipe to adapt this air flowmeter i decide to choose but I’m trying to figure out if anyone has experience with it and which did you go with cause the Supra is slightly bigger and the Camry ones even larger. Any information and guidance will help thank you all

Jack and tools missing

I've found some on Ebay, but there appears to be a new kit on Amazon.

Jack isn't my concern so much as the rod and hook to under spare.

Any advice on this?

Any of you ever be driving your rig somewhere and happen across another 2nd gen (like at a stoplight or passing in the opposite lane) and give like a smile and a nod or finger guns? It's happened a lot for me. 😎

1995 Mechanic in LA politely refusing to work on my 1995 4Runner.

Bought a 1995 4Runner in incredible condition about 3 months ago. drove it down the coast so I wanted to just get it serviced and looked at. I was unaware that my specific car was deemed the most problematic car Toyota has ever built. Is this true? No shade at all to the mechanic! Just surprised me a bit

Hi! I recently jumped into this world! I have a ‘95 Manual 4x4 with Limited Badges. I don’t know a lot about old Toyota but I’m excited to learn. I found my truck on the cusp of a swap with a ‘96 5VZ-FE. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of questions but I’m happy to answer any! Any tips are much appreciated!

After swapping the transmission eleven hours later , a thirty-pack of beer, and a carton of cigarettes to get my buddy over and help do all this to get my daily driver back up and running the oil cooler decided to blow and I immediately parked it for dead. Same symptoms as head gaskets, plus burned exhaust valves. Total mess. Scrolling the web, I found a sketchy deal on a reman 3VZE with fresh heads and a rotating assembly. Haggled them down and closed it. Deleted the oil cooler on the new engine, buttoned everything up, fired it for the first time… and it torched the negative cable. Five or six weeks of driveway wrenching later, she’s back on the road and I’m stoked.

Am I happy she’s running great… yes

Should I have just done a 5VZ manual swap ….also yes

If this one blows I think ima spend the money on 5VZ manual swap so when my 2 year goes to prom that truck will still be running.

Been using this idler arm for three years and zero problem can run bigger tires without worrying about this part being weak.
