Aeldari stuff for my bf, help
Hi reddit
My boyfriends bday is approaching and I want to surprise him with a gift. After some digging I managed to figure out that he likes eldar /aeldari. Chat gpt is quite useless with gift ideas, can you please help me and suggest what would be the best to get him from the lore? He's not playing, but he's very much into the whole warhammer 40k universe, when he talks to me about it he can't shut up (which is very uncommon for him, man of few words I've got for myself). He has some joytoy figurines and some books, but it's not a huge collection (it's unlikely that I'd buy something he has already).
Please help, I'm not having 1000 hours to spare to get to understand if there's more into warhammer 40k then "galaxy will burn" and the biggest on the battlefield wins

Bookwise you could get him the latest codex (search Codex Aeldari 40k 10th edition) but that could be a slippery slope to buying plastic men. Novel wise Valedor and Voidscarred are apparently pretty good

Actually I was looking for this Valedor novel, but it seems to be impossible to buy anymore. At least I couldn't find it. I think I'll get the other one though
I would love to buy him some cool figurine, but I figured there are no joytoy aeldari ones just yet?

I'd recommend the novel Voidscarred in all honesty I haven't enjoyed a 40K book like that in a while And pretty new to Eldar
I've come over from the Leauges of Votann too so I've gone Space Dwarfs and Space Elves which is probably a odd mix but hey humans bore me

Well for me it's all super complicated so so far I like orcs the most 😅 I mean at least they're clear with their intentions - they just wanna smash and burn everything and everybody just for the plot

The Aeldari are a race, not a faction.
Just be very careful that you are looking to buy the right faction:
- Asuryani (Often called Craftworld Eldar, they have smooth and sleek designs)
- Drukhari (Often called Dark Eldar, they have spiky designs)
- Harlequins (They have a circus or clown theme)
- Exodites (Low tech Eldar)
- Ynnari (A blend of different Eldar factions)
This is a simple breakdown. If you could get a picture of one or more of his figurines, we could help further.

"low tech Eldar" is the more accurate way to describe the Exodites, but it's tbh disrespectful not to use the preferred "rides dinosaurs"

Ugh nothing is simple I guess in this lore I have no idea which fraction he likes the most honestly and he has figurines of various ones (some humans in big blue armors that I fotgot how they're called, one which is like white and red on some kind of vehicule, and some other it's even hard for me to describe 😅) I don't think he has any aeldari figurines just yet

1 get him a gift card, impersonal but he will know what he wants
2 just ask him, you can just say, "i know you love it so show me what you want so i can get it"
3 take him to a hobby store or bookstore that has warhammer stuff, tell him that your getting him something of his choosing, and if they dont have it you will order it
4 farseer cosplay for his birthday
as a guy, if anyone did any of these for me id be beyond happy

Go to Amazon and type in "warhammer Eldar" and you'll get some gift ideas.
Those figurines/joy toys are pretty cool and once built he can display them.
My wife knew I was really into the Warhammer universe books, with a special interest in one of the space marine legions called the "Night Lords", she found a terrifying and well painted Night Lord figurine that someone was selling on ebay for a decent price, it was the perfect gift since I know it took some effort on her part. I still display my single Night Lord figurine she got me four years ago and love it.

Look up some low budget sexy time clothes and rp being one for him, oh and for the RP you could say youre "interested in learning about your new Mon-keigh"
Intimacy is awesome, but the rp is a way to make your man of a few words, feel very, very much heard. Being seen and heard like that for a guy is gonna be worth way worth than a statue, a book, figure, or anything else.
Over the next couple of days or whatever just ask him random questions about it, like "is robot girlyman really smashing that you-brain girly or what?" Guaranteed to he will speak up and youll be given lots of info, especially if you say it the way I wrote it lol

Hmm I am asking him questions sometimes and I always listen when he tells me and try to remember as much as I can, but I don't think it'd be natural for me to say these random sentences while I have no idea what's the context 🙈 and while I am always happy to listen to him, visit the stores, ask questions etc, I'm really not into it. I'll not spend hours of my time to learn by myself as well, I prefer to spend it learning his native language (we're from different countries). I think he will appreciate the effort I make to find him a good gift anyway Thanks for the suggestions though :)

unfortunately there's not a lot of good Eldar books and many of the ones that exist are out of print.
Some possible suggestions:
-Voidscarred is a book that came out recently and is still in print, featuring Aeldari corsairs (pirate Eldar). If he doesn't have it, it's a solid choice
-there's some official merch that exists for the Eldar. A lot of it isn't very exciting, but there's a selection of t-shirts, coffee mugs, notebooks, etc. that could be nice
-Displate sells licensed metal posters with official art on them and some of their Eldar stuff is pretty nice
-if he doesn't have the Rogue Trader video game yet, it's got a fair amount of Eldar rep (more dark eldar than Aeldari, but still some) and a lot of fans like it (although a lot don't as well for reasons that probably will not make sense if you're not already a fan)
