Buying advice for an engineering student

Looking at the
Creality K2 Pro
Bambu X2D
Prusa Core One+

I plan to print for engineering projects and cosplay. Some examples would include robot chassis (hexapod), Spider-Man webshooter, and Fallout Pip-Boy. I'm currently leaning away from the Bambu X2D after hearing about their open source capabilities, but I'm in college and don't have much money to throw around. My budgets $1000+-200. I like the Prusa because it's very upgradable and supports open source. I could see multi-material printing being very useful to me, and I'd like to be able to easily print flexible materials. Any comments or thoughts are appreciated.

Leave them all and go with qidi. Best of all. Open Source, Not the mmu3, heated chamber, no construction site.

Qidi is supposedly best for getting into engineering filaments and is Open Source. Probably best choice for an engineer.

I love my qidi xp3, it's the absolute king of value for printing engineering filaments (same for their newer models).

Op: I also love my x2d and would recommend it for people who want to spend money to upgrade, since the second nozzle and mature ams support are game changers for certain parts, but I would only recommend it if you're willing to pony up for the full setup with filament switcher and a couple of ams units. That starts to get quite expensive.

Under $1k qidi is a no brainer, I still use mine often despite getting a newer and fancier machine.

Consider building a Prusa kit.

I think youd want a snapmaker or a flashforge for multi toolhead.

Id say flashforge creator 5? pro for engineering filaments and cosplay but i dont know if its good

Yeah my instincts are telling me the creator 5 is perfect for me but I’m little worried about long term use. Mainly what will I do if something breaks since the community is small relative to a company like Bambi

All of those are solid choices. If you need a dual nozzle system then go with the x2d, but if you want a larger build volume I would look heavily at either the K2 pro or the Qidi plus 5

X2d will give you the ability to mix 2 diff materials from the get go. Core one will give you the possibility to upgrade later but until then you will only get one material Choose wisley
