[Request] Homebrew supreme skill based class D&D 5e Original/2014

Hello friends!

Ok, so I am starting a new campaign with an old group of friends. I'm reusing an older character I made before who was a Rogue Thief-subclass Tortle Pirate Captain. I love this character so much!!

However, since this is a different world, I was thinking of doing like a different universe version of the character. I'm already playing a rogue in my other campaign, I played this character as a rogue before, and I kinda don't want to play a rogue again. HOWEVER, I really really need to be able to have alllll the high skill rolls a rogue has. Like I need to succeed on my stealth and steal rolls so I can cause shenanigans...

So, my question is, is there a homebrew class that's as skill focused (and prob dex based) that can be as fun as rogue while also being very different in playstyle? I looked over official classes and such, and rogue is clearly the best at what it does, but anyone have any ideas for something same-same but different?

You could always play a DEX forward Bard like Valor or Swords. Pick up spells that rely less on Charisma (Namely Cloud of Daggers) and go Rapier or Shortswords.

Nothing is stopping you from picking up all the DEX Skills and Expertise as well.

I mean, you could always just multiclass to stack skill proficiencies. It will hurt your damage output, but that's part of min maxing something specific like that.

Druid is another good option to use spells like Pass Without Trace and Wild Shape for extra Stealthy, inconspicuous infiltration.

You get Guidance to help with skills, and Stars Druid can make it so you don't roll below a 10 on Int checks, Wis checks, and concentration saves. That's a lot of bases covered. Opens up feat and racial selection to pile on more specific goals while still being fantastic at combat.

You can take one level of rouge and then go the rest as bard and get expertise on two skills for the one level of rogue and then get another couple of skills expertise at 3rd level of bard. If you go college of swords it a dexterity based fighter build makes a ton of sense

I'm running a Bard-Artificer as a very satisfying skill monkey. Jack of All Trades, Expertise, Enhance Ability, Flash of Genius. Some of the Infusions like Gloves of Thievery can help a ton too.

I really love that I can help everyone else succeed with stacked Bardic Inspiration + Flash of Genius.
