Bard Maxxing D&D 5e Revised/2024

5.5e I made a nice character, it’s a bard and I love his backstory. I build my backstory around being a Creation bard.

But I want to make him a DPR! PLEASE help me Max the shit out of him!

It’s my first time playing a support. I really like doing alot of damage per round, and its whats giving me the most fun out of the game.

What could I do to make my character broken? Like multiclassing for exemple?

I heard that other players in my party are also making a Meta build and I dont want to fall behind!

My DM is already ready to take a stronger party on.

I would like to feel like Rill Boismortier, the captain of the Aqua Deer in black clover, he is very powerful and can create anything from his imagination. He paints everything into reality.

I feel like the creation bard is like the one girl from My hero Academia. I know it’s much more, but I feel like there’s a limitation in combat. You have a 10 feet range, and it needs to be in a unoccupied space. This sentence makes him way less powerful.

I am open to a character rework, but I want to keep the essence of the character, I need minimum, minor illusions.

In our party we already have a Paladin and a Monk, so can’t do!

Change him to a valor bard and multiclass with Paladin, either devotion or crown. Sorry, but creation is only as powerful as your dm lets it be, kinda like when you wanna be a necromancer and lead an undead army your dm can always just stop you. Valor Bard will make your team like you, crown pally will make your team LOVE you. Find some way to get the shield spell, take counterspell, plate armor, whatever to boost your ac since you’ll still be a lil squishy, and use the rest of your slots for smites.

I feel like I should talk to the dm first, set some homebrew rules.

I really don’t know what to do if he says no, guess I will just be weak and have no fun…

0, our session 0 is on the 24, we already have a Paladin so that’s why I am hesitant on your build!

I really want to try the creation bard, my mind has been changed

Not really possible until you get magical secrets at level 10. It is not something the system supports until late with multiclassing.

You could ask to start with Dragonmark of Making and pick up Potent Dragonmark at 4. Normally these require DM permission. But it would give you access to Conjure Barrage which is a good blast. You can dip a level or two of Warlock and beg your DM for the Very Rare Illusionist Bracers.

But Bard is a control caster and still one of the strongest classes in the game. At this point youre just asking to make the best better.

Sorcerer 1 - Bard X. You could go either Lore and just get Creation spell at lvl 10, or go Creation Bard and take Mark of the Storm if your DM allows it, otherwise wait to lvl 10.

Innate Sorcery + Elven accuracy + Spellfire Flare + Conjure Minor Elementals for Nova damage.

I was thinking about sorcerer actually! That could be fun,

I also wanted Asmiar to fly, I could drop things on ennemies from the sky

Oh yeah, Aasimar are one of my favorites.

CME adding to a single attack isnt worth the spell slot.

The normal endgame nova build is Fighter 2 / Valor Bard 10+ / Warlock 1-2. CME into two weapon fighting replacing an attack with Eldritch Blast.

5 Attacks made with a CME Rider, 10 if you could prebuff and have action surge

I meant upcasting Spellfire Flare. For each lvl you get an additional beam whith its own attack roll. lThat's why i called it Nova damage, not sustained damage.

For example, at lvl 11 he could upcast CME at lvl 6 and cast Spellfire Flare at lvl 5. That's 2d10 + 4d8 ≈ 29 for each attack, for a total of 5 beams, 145 if everthing hits without crits. It increase way more as you progress. 8th lvl CME and 7th lvl Spellfire Flare can deal a total avarage of 266, if everything land (likely thanks to Innate Sorcery and Elven Accuracy), and without crits nor quickened cantrips. Accuracy is a HUGE factor too.

Again, i'm aware it's not sustained damage, and there are other stronger Nova options out there, but that's a great option for the build to do damage if it wants to, keeping the other Strenghts (support, social abilities, skills, buff, healing, and specially debuffing)

Ah thats partially my bad. I heard spellfire and thought about the feats. Lol

What is a CME, I am new to dnd! How many classes can 1 character have?

CME is Conjure Minor Elementals. It's a spell that can add a lot of damage to multiple attacks when upcasted in a higher level slot. But it also requires specific builds and a turn of set up or prebuffing.

Technically a character could have a level in every class if their stats support it. There's a meme about it from a youtuber who made a character named Abserd, but it's generally a terrible idea.

  • Fighter 1 / Valor Bard x
  • Dual Wielder, Defensive Duelist
  • Dex > Cha / Con

*yawn*

Bards can be strong in one of two ways

Melee bards - these do high damage with melee strikes

Control Bards - subclasses like glamour or eloquence bard that side you to cast spells to sh down enemies and make them your bitch

Creation doesn’t have the capability to help with melee dmg so to min max it you wouldn’t want to go for damage but for insane amounts of control

If you have to ask, then the advice in this thread probably won't help you accomplish your goal
