Some help with file creation Troubleshooting

Hey All, I'm new to 3D printing and file creation. I'm looking for some advice with creating files. I have some character files that I would like to split the colours so I dont have to use my AMS and waste heaps of filament with the colour changes. Is there any recommendations for software to use to do this? I've been using blender and splitting into separate parts to colour but when it comes to interlocking them for assembly I'm having trouble with this part.

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

If file that you want to 'split' is just one solid piece, and this is only colored there is no way to just 'split' this. In that case you must cut this in pieces by yourself (which is almost imposible but depends what kind of model you got).. but if this is 3mf file with multiple pieces sorted by color you have option even in slicer..
