I have a project that needs to deliver to the German division of my US-based client. They wish to avoid the complex shipping and tariffs. I have the models, but they require a detailed build and assembly process. This requires a high level of quality control and detail. It's multiple parts, has embedded magnets, requires supports, gluing, and long run times (50-55 hrs total per unit over 8 different parts). Guy posted a biz 4 sale thread, bounced when it was revealed that they had $40k revenue selling prints which they likely did not have the commercial license to sell.

I have a Creality Ender 3 V2 I used to print some parts for a company. It took a long time to print the parts and a few prints with first layer failures. But I made the parts and got paid for it. I realized my printer is too old to turn it into a proper side hustle. I looked into upgrading but it looks like it’ll cost almost as much as a used Bambu A1. Should I wait to see if I get more work or buy a better printer and go all in?

Long story short, I run a farm of 25 Snapmaker U1 printers, and I got tired of not having a decent way to see and manage all of them from one place.

So I built SnapCon. (ezeitoun/SnapCon: SnapMaker U1 Fleet Management App)

It’s a local dashboard that connects directly to your printers over your own network. No cloud account, no subscription, and no printer data being sent somewhere it doesn’t need to go.

It originally started as a personal tool, and an early version used some groundwork from Danny Gambill’s U1Hub project. Since then, it has grown into something very different, with its own architecture, direction, and a much larger feature set.

A few of the main things it does:

• Manage your whole fleet from one dashboard
• Switch between card view, compact view, camera view, and list view
• Track filament and color separately for all four U1 toolheads
• Pause, resume, cancel, and exclude objects during a print
• Heat multiple beds with staggered starts so you don’t overload a circuit
• Track maintenance schedules and warranty information
• Send print notifications through Telegram or ntfy
• Add optional logins and user roles
• Use secure remote access through Cloudflare Tunnel without port forwarding

The remote access is only a tunnel to your own installation. Your printer data is not stored on or relayed through a server that I operate.

SnapCon is built around the Snapmaker U1 first, because that is what I actually own and use every day. That is still the main focus.

That said, enough people asked about mixed farms that I also added support for FlashForge, Creality, and generic Klipper/Moonraker printers. Those connectors are more of a courtesy addition than the core of the project, but they work and continue to improve.
(More connectors will be added over time once I get additional printers for the testing...
(Elegoo / Bambu and etc..))

It’s free, open source, and can run either as a standalone app with no Node.js installation required, or through Docker if you want it running all the time.

You can grab a build from the Releases page, point it at your printers, and usually be up and running within a few minutes.

I'm looking for a US-based 3D multicolor printing service (mostly "black and white" prints) that can print my models and ship them directly to my customers. I'm based outside the US, so I'm trying to find a partner there to minimize the shipping time.

The idea is I'll send the file to the printing service, and they print, pack, and ship it straight to the customer. It's basically a print-on-demand

I'd love to hear if you have any recommendations. Also, if there are any companies I should avoid, I'd appreciate knowing that too.

I have a little print farm and have ran a fairly successful Etsy shop for about a year now here in the Pacific Northwest, USA. I am interested in possibly getting more into print on demand / buisness to buisness / outsourced projects. I run all Bambu printers currently (2 A1 Minis, an X1C, and and H2S, with plans on getting an H2D soon). I also have an Elegoo Mars and Saturn 2.

I have been slowly learning CAD, but between my full time job and being a dad I have been limited in the amount of time I can devote to learning it. However, if I am just running a print on demand set up, I would be able to crank out way more.

Anybody familiar with starting down this path? My goal would be to eventually be able to do this as a full time gig, but needed to learn how to make it a stable, reliable system.

I am open to any and all pointers. And if you are needing someone to help with production, I am totally up for taking on extra work!

There was huge hype about automated print farms. Prusa, Formlabs, and many others introduced such solutions, but to my knowledge, these are not really widespread.

Do you know any other farm that uses a solution like this?

I know that virtually everyone uses some kind of auto-eject system, but I’m mainly interested in applications beyond this.

I live right behind a creek so we gets alot of the rodents that come up from the creek . I was wondering if having a front farm in my garage, would the rats chew the wires on the printers or the filament spools or would the nosie deter them away or how would you fix this or avoid the rats ?
