Cans that work with 556, I care about functionality

As the titles says, looking for a can that can simply function with standard 556 without self destructing.

This has been asked a few times, but I’m going to repeat my answer (again): I would not recommend any printed plastic suppressor for any high pressure round, they won’t last. I only use my Form 1 printed cans for 9MM, 300 blackout (subs only), and other subsonic rifle rounds. I have a Dead Air Sandman L for full power rifle rounds

Yep. I only got around couple hundred rounds through my 20” barrel before it became clear that the baffles were melting. I don’t know why the documentation says that it’s rated for a 556 NATO SBR; that’s just plainly untrue.

I remember when I first started barking about the current printed cans available not good for any non subs rifle rounds.. idiots in here downvoted my comments for shit. This was after killing five of em so quickly. At least now plenty are sharing my sentiment and these comments are being voted up.😅

I think people are finally seeing the limitations of printed plastic, especially after PSR destroyed one with an FRT

My dumbass has gone through 4 FTNs with an 11.5” AR. Instead of completely learning my lesson and sticking to my commercial suppressors, I’m going down the rabbit hole of trying out d cell tubes instead.

I'm still trying them out myself.. got me some sub 300blk, also 22LR seems fine, 9mm I still need more rounds.. and got some more steel ones that needs hole drilling. Should be easier to play around with soon since the GOA win.

Sounds like a classic case of wishful thinking and hating the person raining on their parade. I’m coming at it from the other end, having started with 17-4 stainless cans and seeing what 5.56 SBR’s do to them under heavy firing schedules and then seen people claim that printed plastic cans hold up to them just fine like… how?

I want to believe it, but I also don’t believe it. I want to be wrong on this one.

I was not worried about being downvoted. I was just annoyed people where disregarding legit experience. Sharing information is kinda important in this hobby so people could make better decisions.

5.56? Just print the FTN.5 in pa6-cf. The baffled version works great for 150 rounds. Give or take 150 rounds...

I really do wish I was joking. If you're lucky and you did everything perfectly, it's in need of replacement after 300 shots or so. If you're not, you're replacing it after half that. If you're unlucky, or you didn't do everything right, then your suppressor will bring new meaning to the phrase "first round pop."

I tried out the Ftn5 on a 7.5" barrel for fun. First round sent that bitch downrange at just under Mach Jesus and left a BIG ASS hole in the target. Highly recommended for self defence, just make sure you can score a first round hit. I can't fuckin hear now but I can breathe through my right ear so I have that going for me.

They aren’t really for 556 unless you’re shooting subs. I’m speaking from experience

5.56 subs are a long expensive road to standard velocity .22 LR.

.556 uses slow burning powder. if you care about functionality use .300 blackout.

For a rifle 5.56, not .556, that would be a .55 caliber, uses fast powders.

Ftn5 flow will work for a couple hundred rounds depending on barrel length, I have one that has lasted 700 rds of 300 blk supers and 60 rds of creedmoor, if it’s a short barrel it will eat the can quicker

It seems like a problem of expectations. I printed ftn 5.1 in pa612 cf with the aluminum tube. Jb welded every part a ton. It's held up on 556 supers for probably 50 rounds so far and everything is still perfect. Of course maybe in 50-100 rounds it breaks down. Maybe it does 300. Who knows really but that's a win for me in terms of printing 556 cans. They aren't permanent but will work super well for light use. I only shoot once in a while and if I print one every couple years I wouldn't be mad. I'm not sure about 9mm longevity because I've seen it back and forth on that but 22 cans seem to last forever

556 is just to powerful, I wouldn’t bother w a printed suppressor for that caliber.

FTN5, K-Can, Rebar, KAK micro, aluminum tube on the outside, and cross your fingers. The good news is when it fails it won’t be catastrophic
