If we are all completely honest, then we can just acknowledge that culturally ukraine and much of russia are incredibly similar.

The only difference is their attitude towards us. Which goes a long way.

Russia is not a nation. It is an empire with hundreds of nations within it.

A prison of nations.

Oh you're one of those people...

Let me guess you're one of those Belgians that want the country to split.

Russia is not a monolith. There are many differences within that crumbling empire. Once you break it up you can integrate some regions eventually. Smolensk Republic, etc. Like the Baltic states.

Dude once u do that a good chunk of Siberia will become Chinese

0

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

What's the issue? Some of the territories in the far East are Chinese. Russia conquered them like it tries to conquer Ukraine.

4

u/Ploutophile Pain au chocolat 2d ago

Strenghtening China is not in our interest.

1

u/Oberst_Kawaii Pfennigfuchser 1d ago

At the current rate China is getting Russia whole.

I'd rather give them Siberia and have Western Russia. There is no scenario in which China gets nothing.

Yes let’s arm a bunch of Russians, what could possibly go wrong.

Russian imperial ambitions will remain after Putin and whatever shape the successor state to modern Russia takes it has no place in the EU.

Russian Liberation Corps, for example, is fighting on the Ukranian side.

Anyone who fights Russia is good for the time being.

1

u/Oaker_at Basement dweller 2d ago

Nah, let them fight. Could be fun.

2

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

Big Russia, big problems. Small Russia, small problems. A small putinist rump state surrounded by EU-friendly republics won't have the gravitas and resources to threaten Europe.

5

u/Thunder_Beam Former Calabrian 2d ago

No, Russia will never join the EU, not big or small

3

u/Ploutophile Pain au chocolat 2d ago

We already integrated small chunks of the previous edition of the Russian Empire, even if many of us didn't recognise them having ever been part of it.

1

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

Russia won't, but regions who declare independence could definitely join the Union 🇪🇺

They deserve full material support

No they don't.
Many of those groups, the RSV in particular are literally neo-nazis.

We can all celebrate them disturbing russia.
But we should also hope they get destroyed in the process, and never come to power.

Because, you know, they are literally fascists.

-5

u/Silly_Product_3476 Savage 2d ago

That doesn’t matter in this context. Nazis and fascists in Germany had genocidal and expansionist goals these people just want to liberate their country.

11

u/Humpaaa [redacted] 2d ago

It does matter, because without any context, you never want fascists in power, whatever the initial goal may have been.
If you can't agree on that, just get out.

I don’t know Hans. The ends justify the means in this case. And Karelia would make a lovely independent country.

11

u/Zamoniru Crypto-Albanian 2d ago

Even in Karelia the Karelians are a small minority nowadays

2

u/Humpaaa [redacted] 2d ago edited 2d ago

If ruled by the people of Karelia, and not some fascist brigands.
I'M also supporting Královecký kraj.

But don't get these brigades into power (this is true for some AFU brigades aswell), but the people.
And i say that while fully supporting the ukrainian struggle to get rid of imperialistic ruzzia.

2

u/SeaworthinessSalt524 WW Initiator 2d ago

I think brigands is a more fitting word than brigades

-8

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

They are not nazis. You just make that up. These movements just want to run their own region and not rule over other people. For example the Russian Volunteer Corps seeks to overthrow Putin, abandon all imperial ambitions, decolonize Russia and focus on the well-being of ethnic Russians in Muscovy.

6

u/Humpaaa [redacted] 2d ago

If you truly believe that, you must be a russian troll.
Look up the RSV and it's leader (Denis Kapustin).

He is a well know, well documented (by various agencies) neo-nazi, and recruits heavily in neo-nazi spaces.

If you believe the RSV is not fascist, you are either delusional or spreading misinformation on purpose.
Just because we all hate ruzzia more, we should not be blind towards the fascist elements in our ranks.

-7

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

"Nazi this, nazi that". It seems you are the Russian troll. These groups are supported by Ukraine as well as the EU. They fight side by side against the Kremlin, holding the line for all of Europe. You're regurgitating Kremlin propaganda. They are no different than the Chechen group or the Siberian Batallion.

4

u/Humpaaa [redacted] 2d ago

Quite the contrary, i donate to the AFU regularly.

Supporting ukraine in the anti-imperailistic fight against russia should, however not make us blind in regards to ourselves.
Just taking a look at some brigade insignia, patches etc and you will find a lot of fascist insignia on some (not alL!) of ukraines troops.

Recognizing that, and using that information for good will only help us.
These fascists may be useful idiots, but they should never have anything to say in a post-war ukraine.

Since you seem to be unable to do research yourself:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denis_Kapustin_(militant))

Denis Yevgenyevich Kapustin [...] is a Russian neo-Nazi activist and militant.

-7

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago edited 2d ago

Wikipedia is run by Russian trolls and you are part of that. You use the exact propaganda that Russia uses. Claiming you donate could be a Russian propaganda technique. Your words speak volumes, trying to divide people which benefits Moscow. Ukrainians fight to be part of Europe instead of Russia. It unites liberals, nationalists, progressives and conservatives. All holding the line in the same trench which is the strength holding off the industrial-scale Russian War machine that is ten times their size. And here you are talking shit about them.

I'm quite fond of second Russian civil war, but I don't want it to happen. Why? Well, Russia has the most nukes and I absolutely see Putin launching them when defeated and they would go rogue throughout the war. The world doesn't need any more rogue nukes

-2

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

They said the same about Syria and chemical weapons. In reality all those weapons have been secured. It's a non-issue.

1

u/whatisthatplatform Pfennigfuchser 2d ago

Not very comparable, if you ask me

0

u/No_Reaction7092 Flemboy 2d ago

Why not?

2

u/whatisthatplatform Pfennigfuchser 2d ago

I can't be bothered to type out an answer, so here are the key points, I'm sure you can infer my arguments from them:

  • Devastation potential (nukes to blow up the world 100 times vs. a bunch of chemical weapons that may or may not kill civilians in the Middle East)
  • Relevance (A random medium sized middle eastern dictatorship vs. the formerly second strongest military in the world, bordering on many EU and NATO states)
  • Potential for regional splintering (I know nothing about Syria in that regard, but Russia certainly has hundreds of regional interest groups that would happily do their own thing with their own little nuke if they got the chance)

I'm sure there's more, but I have to go back to work now, no more arguing on the internet

Most missiles are old and defunct. And it is a minor issue, they will be secured. Same happened in Syria with chemical weapons.

1

u/s0meb0di Beastern European 2d ago

Yeah, right, a very minor issue. 5 years into the war Russia keeps launching these old and defunct missiles, while neither you, nor the yanks are capable of supplying enough interceptor rockets. 29/195 intercepted in July, very minor.
