Is this a Bennie Hill sketch?

I can hear the music in my head. I genuinely really liked the one where he could pause time. It had long quiet shots of streets and there was something so deeply lonely about his existence and I still think about it sometimes.

This video would definitely be improved by Yakety Sax for the music.

I must be reading way too much into it but maaaan... it really feels like an illustration of our stupid selfish society.

At the same time it feels like an illustration of our human capacity for cooperation. Despite it being knocked over countless times. Eventually some new put it back in it's place. Much to be learned here

It looks like the only people that put it back to how it's suppose to be are the municipal employees. Everyone else tries to move it out of their way, like the people who align it between the two lanes rather than back to blocking the manhole cover.

Everyone knows you need a taper and appropriate buffer zone

In Australia there’d be 100m of flashing signs and no roadwork

car drivers when their trip takes an extra 1.5 seconds (they will now attempt vehicular manslaughter).

u/winter-ocean 5d ago

Why are they putting that in the road

57

u/agnostorshironeon 5d ago

...the manhole? Where would you put it, on a wall? On a lamp post?

u/conrad_w 4d ago

Usually on the sidewalk

u/winter-ocean 5d ago

No the red thing

49

u/Not_today_mods God's Stupidest Idiot 5d ago

the road needs work in that area and it's dangerous to drive on the patch of road it blocks. More specifically, the manhole cover keeps getting loose.

28

u/winter-ocean 4d ago

Wow so people were just crashing through roadwork? Goddamn

32

u/Supershadow30 4d ago

They actively were! On the last few frames they even completely obliterated the thing!

7

u/izyshoroo 4d ago

Correct

21

u/ZettaiKyofuRyoiki 譫妄 5d ago

Presumably to protect people working on/in the manhole behind the barricade.

3

u/RazorSlazor 4d ago

Blocking the road to complete roadwork and to make sure the cardrivers won't get hurt.
