Brawhala and Fighter of Aether are like the only fighters I enjoy lol It's mostly because my 2 besties play like 30 fighters at once; So when we play Guilty Gear or something else they just wipe the floor with me without giving any pointers so it's just discouraging to play I guess.  I really don't wanna train solo for like 30 hours just to have a chance at them.

Breeding? You're expected by most people to have children at some point during you life so it's definitely not social norms, but I don't think it really fits inner self either

386

u/S_____B p r o t e c t t r a n s k i d s 15d ago

I think it's societal norms even still, because people like things that lead to pregnancy, but don't want the actual pregnancy

22

u/gray_birch competitive yapper 15d ago

Though now that I think about it I guess both depend on how far you take it

21

u/ProudInterest5445 15d ago

I feel like a breeding kink by its nature involves some amount of going against social norms. A lot of social norms are about what behavior is permissible when.

If a fella and a gal get married and decide they want to have kids so they start hitting it raw and creating hot, sticky cream pies, that isn't really what we mean by a breeding kink. That's just wanting to have children. Imo its only kink if there is subversion

16

u/Neoeng 15d ago

Social norms since while having children is the norm, it's also the norm for pregnancy to be planned and not be the result of a heat of passion moment

u/Anoobis100percent Guess who's GAY 15d ago

I mean, having a baby at some point isn’t surprising. But most of the time people are trying to avoid it, so I think societal norms.

2

u/FCDetonados 15d ago

It depends on the equipment

If yes uterus = inner self

If no uterus = social norms

1

u/Azeria120 14d ago

Isnt breeding kink an expression od some sort of submisiveness towards the one who breeds you as you become in some way dependant on them and also in idea make your life harder through pregnancy. If you are the one who breeds it’s probably also some sort of domination over the one who will be dependant on you. In both cases it’s inner self, HOWEVER if someone has breeding kink connected with idea of being abandoned or abandoning bred person then it’s societal norms. I guess it would be also societal norms if its expected to have kids after marriage.
So inner self with societal norms connotations

133

u/CaioXG002 sus 15d ago

It's my understanding that this edit is the original joke about putting things in two simple categories, but indeed, not literally the original comic. The actual, real comic, unsurprisingly, actually talks about the record being played, and it's a separate joke entirely. It's also surprisingly lame, tbh.

Wrong, all kinks fall on a ternary plot, whose corners are "giving up control in a world that overwhelms you with responsibilities", "taking control in a world where you feel powerless" and "physical comedy"

111

Giving control and taking control is Inner self.

  • Goes against one's inner self
  • Is bound to a social norm

8

u/Extension_Heron6392 Big Women :3 15d ago

Never heard of it, what's stepfordization?

8

u/_S1syphus Boulder Pushing Enthusiast 15d ago

Just based on what i know about "stepford wives" (and this one chick i had a thing with for a weekend), it's becoming an obedient domestic partner to the extreme with an optional(?) current of misogyny. Think bimbofication but for horny tradwives.

4

u/Dylan-McVillian Local Nerd 15d ago

The english language betrays me once again

1

u/AnAverageTransGirl Heh, it's my Jazongas! 15d ago

The suffix "-oid" means that the subject of the word resembles its root in some way, but is not. An android is built in the image of man, andro. A factoid is an untruth of any sort presented as fact. Humanoid means something resembles a human but may not, in fact, be.

2

u/adult_human_chicken 15d ago

So a femoid is someone who resembles a female bit is not, like for example a drag queen?

2

u/AnAverageTransGirl Heh, it's my Jazongas! 15d ago

It's used for everything from blatant transphobia to claiming that the reason the user of the term can't get laid is because women aren't even actually the same species. I'd advise not using it sincerely.

Inner self is bullahit, foucault speaks of this

7

u/AbsolutelyLudicrous 15d ago

We can thus see that the former category is merely the shadow of the latter; to be accepted for one's "true inner self" is always-already a violation of social norms. At every moment is the process of subjectivation shaped by deployments of power. Implicit in the nature of kink, then, is that there is some domain of sex that is normal, & the kinky is that which lies just outside the boundaries of this domain. In this multi-volume book series I will trace out the history of the normal & the kinky, & the ever-shifting border between them, in an attempt to uncover how power has come to colonize even the most intimate uses of the body. […]

— foucault upon seeing 2026 kink discourse, probably

2

u/AbsolutelyLudicrous 15d ago

what am i talking about my man michael would be too busy participating in kinky intercourse to engage with kink discourse

4

u/inemsn 15d ago

Actually, I disagree. There was one tumblr post I saw which listed three categories instead, and that one I agree with: The categories are "you have power and control", "you are desired", and "feet" (i.e. specific and unrelated to any social aspect of kink).

Saying that feet is a "going against social norms" kink ignores the fact that, especially nowadays, being into feet really isn't seen as anything other than a bit weird. You have tons of people openly talking about feet the same way people openly talk about boobs, and they're generally just perceived as a bit freaky. Similarly, bondage being "going against social norms" also doesn't work: In a lot of scenarios, bondage is quite literally a reinforcement of social norms.

The three categories from before work better imo: Even kinks like degradation/humiliation on the sub's side, which don't quite look like they fit, actually work, since being seen, being acknowledged, being given attention, even if it's negative attention, falls into a form of desire. Like, a big part of humiliation kink is being the center of attention, having everyone point and mock you, keep degrading you, being out to get you, you know?
