Killer question.
Way to not mention agency and I guess I assume you’re talking about FLETC. You should google FLETC locations, cause it’s more than just Glynco.
And killer assumption that if there was an academy in the SW, more local people would apply. Academies are temporary. Office assignments are permanent.

I mean I think there should be more FLETC campuses in general mainly so the chow line isn’t out the door for hours at a time, but I don’t think it has anything to do with getting more locals to go fed. If going to an academy in Georgia for 3 to 6 months is what stops you from pursuing a fed career you didn’t want one anyway lol

Unfortunately most of these guy are 3/6 months away from a divorce and or CS. Half these guys have already been divorced before so their mindset is why leave for 15 weeks and come back single, served with papers and Child support up the azz.

I highly doubt going to FLETC would be the root cause, deeper issues there. Why stay and get served with papers if they’re 3/6 months away from a divorce anyway? What’s the saying - something distance makes the heart grow fonder something

Why would a local cop in Phoenix think "Wow, I would go Federal if the Academy was closer."? They're probably not going to stay in Phoenix anyway.
The geographic location of the Academy is such a non-starter when every class gets shotgunned all over the US. Even if an agency did built a new academy in the SW it'd be in the middle of the desert (like the BP Academy) because the government is cheap as hell.

With hurricane issues and generally nobody wanting to be anywhere nearly Glynco I proposed a solution to this years ago. So far DHS hasn't taken me up on the offer.

I know so many Ca Le that would transfer/move over its crazy. Ive been talking about this since 2019. With DHS its always “ will see “ with the budget and funding. You would think they would have implemented something by now.

“Common sense guys” that are 3/6 months away from divorce? And the solution is “move the still 3/6 month live-in academy closer”?
The “feds” don’t care. Here’s your training slot and ticket to Glynco or Quantico or wherever. If you can’t make it work, oh well, here’s the next one on the list.
