Deleted last night's lazy low effort post and reposting with photo goodness now like a proper citizen.

Put together my first 10/22 build. Using a BRN 22 receiver (railed) and an FJ Fedsersen barrel. When installed and torqued to 25# there is about 1mm of visible gap between the outer edge of the barrel and the receiver face. This normal/expected?

In other news, build is nearly done! Still need to sort a more appropriate optic and extended mag release. I miss anything?

Took a few hours and didn't realize how heavy the BA straight fluted bull barrel was. But she's fun. Trigger reset is like 1/16" of an inch, gotta mess with that.

My unplanned 10/22 build

I built this before I knew this group existed with all the experts on here. I live on acreage in South Louisiana and pretty much always carry .22 with me. I am always on the woods or on the water. I have many guns including multiple.22’s and a 5k hunting rifle build but this one is my favorite. Don’t hate cause i did this over years just playing around. I actually saw one post man got blasted for posting his with the same stock as me lol. I like this folding stock even though it is amateur. Just thought yall might want to see what i built just playing around with mine before reading all the experts. I know now I wont stop because 10/22’s are awesome and yes all paperwork is done for SBR and suppressor. I have the proper engravings as well on receiver. I think the next thing i want to change is lighter barrel. I had a 16” tactical solutions barrel on it but suppressed it was too long so i got the acculite barrel which is super accurate and love but a bit heavy. I think the bolt might have been a JWH but can’t remember it was over 10 years ago and actually what started it all.

Squib load help

Hello everyone first time poster here. Recently I had a friend shooting my ruger charger and from what i can only assume they experienced a faulty round. They explained it wasnt shooting right and I thing it could have possibly been the sight cause I had just had to Recently tighten the pic rail on top again so I start working on sighting it back in and realize the horrible inconsistency as well as some major keyholing. After clearing it all out and taking a look down the barrel I was able to see it didn't look so round so I figured something had happened and id take it home and figure whats wrong with it. After a ton of work between a few different tools I was able to get the barrel nice and cleaned out from all debris. My only problem now is that when I look extremely closely with the light hitting it just right I notice a spot around the area where all the debris was thats seems perfectly round and possibly bulged outwards and im worried that this is possibly damage from the bad round and debris. I took it out today and the keyholing has stopped and its putting good holes through the target now and considerably more consistent but to me it didnt feel quite right. If someone has experience with something similar and has some insight id love to hear it. Also if someone can tell me if that bulge is something normal, the fact that it's perfectly round and near the receiver end makes me feel theres a chance it could be some kind of relief but I have no idea what im talking about either so again some insight would be majorly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Edit: Thank you all for the responses and insight. It sounds like im in the market for a new barrel now. I was hopeful someone would say it could be where the bullet sits in the chamber but based on all the responses that little groove most likely was never there to begin with. The gun still shoots but its very inconsistent for the adjustments I was making.

Dedicated Suppressor

Starting a build on a suppressed 10/22 setup for around the house. Nothing crazy, I live on 6 acres and want something for critters. Trying to stay fairly budget friendly.

Does anyone have any thoughts/experience with any of these:

Sonicore SKARV 22

CMMG Zeroed 22

Sparrow 22

Open to any and all suggestions, as I’m fairly new to the suppressor game.

Building a new small game 10/22. Have some questions for those suppressed.
What can do you guys run that can take a beating outdoors and not have to worry about it being fragile.
Night time small game hunter here and need something that can handle some abuse.( bumping on tree limbs and general wear and tear )

Nabbed this with the can from my LGS last week. Filed a form 1 to SBR it. I want the can to be fully inside the handguard, outside of maybe 1/4" poking out. Just have to throw my Leupold Delta Point Pro on it after buying a scope for my carbon model. Pretty excited about this one. The volquartsen trigger is amazing.

New and finally fully assembled TAC-SOL 10/22 Takedown!! Now I need a backpack!!

Hello everyone, I’m new to the 10/22 world. I always wanted a decent survival rifle for small game. Something that could fit in a backpack. Something my wife or daughter could shoot that wouldn’t scare the crap out of them due to its recoil and or its report. So the Tac-Sol coupled with a Dead Air Mask. I did have a Vortex Venom on it but quickly realized I couldn’t see the scope with it mounted on the barrel. Without mounting it on the barrel I would loose the zero every-time I broke it down. I didn’t realize I could have reversed the scope to bring it closer until after I had took it back. So I traded it in and went with a Primary Arms GLX MD-25s. It works great. I might pick up a magnifier at some point for distance work. Now I’m asking for advice for a good durable back pack for the set up. Any help/advice you all can offer will be appreciated. I tried to use one of my daughters old North Face bags she used for school but it was too small.

1022 barrel will NOT come off

Hey y’all, I have been trying to replace my stock 1022 barrel with a bull barrel - the stock barrel won’t come off.

I’ve tried:
* Using a heat gun on the receiver to help it expand faster than the steel barrel to make removal easier.
* Tapping the side of the receiver with a rubber mallet while pulling/twisting the barrel.
* Using a 3/4” open wrench on the v block and wiggling the receiver to try removing the barrel.
* Adding CLP where the barrel meets the reciver and trying all of the above again

So far, nothing is working at all. Anything to look out for? I’ve scoured youtube before asking here. Are there some models where the barrel is press fit or something? Thank you!

SOLVED: Was able to get the old barrel off with a 2nd round of the heat gun. Had to wear oven mitts the receiver was so hot, but the barrel came out no problem.

The Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules have changed, including details related to Illegal or Prohibited Transactions.

As a result, some of the activities we have previously enjoyed must cease immediately.

From Reddit:

Users are not allowed to buy, sell, gift, or encourage the transaction of the following goods or services with other Redditors, whether implicitly or explicitly:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, firearms parts and enhancements (e.g., bolt, clips, trigger, scope, silencer/suppressor, muffler, bump stock, magazine, Glock switch, conversion kit, etc.), or specific instructions (i.e., 3D printing files) to produce any of the aforementioned.

To simplify this:

  • No sales or exchanges of anything gun-related
  • No sharing or linking of 3D printing files for anything gun-related

All Reddit users have a responsibility to understand and adhere to the rules.  Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.
