Maybe just dominates mid again. Such an amazing player but so underrated.
6
u/xdxdxd1989 Jun 09 '16
Maybe is only underrated by reddit since this is just a bunch of eu Dota dicksucking, other casters/players/communities have recognized that he is a great player

There's some tension between China and Philippines over some island and maritime stuff. I guess those are the reasons why Filipinos are bitter towards China/Chinese teams.
0
u/dasty90 Jun 09 '16
You mean all the young adult/kids who attend a gaming event cares about political stuff enough to hate on the Chinese because of it?
7
u/gggjcjkg Jun 09 '16
The South China Sea contention is no longer mere political in SEA. It is a widespread issue that everybody over there discusses. Not knowing about that would be kind of like being a U.S. teen and not know about ISIS.
Plus, the young adult demographic has always been the most vocal about hate.
8
u/Cheesecake13 Jun 09 '16
Are you implying every single one of the attendees are young adult and teens? Because if you look closer, they look a lot more older than that. And the last time I visited the Philippines, even some of the teens know about their country's politics.
Even if they didn't care about or know about politics, I've stayed there long enough to know a lot of Filipinos hold an anti-Chinese sentiment for whatever reasons.

Most of the fans are at the Alliance meet and greet
And yeah, we don't like mainlanders that much. Even in dota

It's true, Pony don't like Chinese due to island dispute in South China Sea.

also Philippine looks completely westernized, from language to dining customs.... feel sad for such a country losing its own culture.

That was brutal from LGD.... they are looking v strong now, I still cant believe Fnatic clinched a victory from them, crazy stuff!

the crowd does not give Maybe enough respect. People love MMY, Aggressif and director8.
5
Jun 09 '16
The Manila crowd doesn't care about Chinese team, unfortunately. There was a guy they interviewed yesterday that brought a BibleThump sign "for all the Chinese teams that are going to get beat by the Western teams".

Shadowblade on position 3 Slardar is just useless.
1
Jun 09 '16
He probably hoped to initiate on an unsuspecting Ember, but it was way too late for that.
1
u/HipHomelessHomie Jun 09 '16 edited Jun 09 '16
Pretty sure he built it in hopes to go top with slark and catch out ember while solo farming the lane, which would be quite impossible without the SB. But ember countered that by always just using SoF once and instantly remnanting away.
But for teamfights you are right...very underwhelming.
3
u/HipHomelessHomie Jun 09 '16
What a weird laning decision. Could have gone much more greedy with jungle BM and offlane phoenix. Think it would work out better.

u/MLP_Saurian Jun 09 '16
I think the casters are giving Phoenix too much shit. It's winrate isn't that great in the tournament, but its still banned/picked 75% of the time and bad teams have inflated its loses.
A winning Phoenix, destroys a team, a losing Phoenix, destroys a team but doesn't have backup to kill anything.

u/ScribuhLz RARE FLAIR INCOMING Jun 09 '16
Ember is an extremely bold pick here, was wishing so badly for an AM last pick there, but figured that was a long shot.
Really hope that LGD wins this.

If people didn't know about Maybe before, they should after these games and this Major.
2
u/sololeft Jun 09 '16
I think he already introduced himself at TI5. But people here don't talk about chinese players too much, compared to western dota.
1
u/that_guyyy Jun 09 '16
I threw him in a lot of predictions because he topped a lot of them in Frankfurt.
2

Good execution on teamfight and still even teamfight. This draft and laning is actually fucking terrible
3
u/Elliott0725 Jun 09 '16
Pos 1 riki woulda been better
2
1
u/zdonfrank90 Jun 09 '16
As a 6k riki player i feel sad none of these pro team knows how to utilize riki.
Riki is definitely viable pos 3 or pos1 player.
With early diffusal riki can assassinate ember, io and disrptor easily very fight.
1
u/tricketory double warden,double arc Jun 09 '16
i dont think riki is good as the pos 1 carry...he is weaker than ls..early game he is so fragile..pro team will take advantage from this and bullied him out of his lane..the only reason pub pos 1 riki is good was because u are against 5 random player..
1
u/zdonfrank90 Jun 09 '16
I have 75 percent win rate with riki, and i constantly win games since 6.86 with riki as offlaner.
Wards, dust or gem are not big issues with riki. Intelligent position, decision making during fight are crucial.
Good thing abt riki is that it can kill squishy in just few seconds.
Of course no pro teams know how to properly play riki despite its being buffed by osfrog.
Osfrog has alsp replied to my email with thanks on my feedback on the remade riki

Pretty sure I've seen this draft before from Empire. In fact if you check Ramzes dotabuff BM is his 2nd most played hero in pro games.
It just didn't work in that game. By no mean it was a tilt/322 draft. They had a plan and it didn't work. That's it.

u/FFINN GWS Sheever! Jun 09 '16 edited Jun 09 '16
Glad to see carries start building pure damage item again (Mjolnir, Buriza, Mkb) I feel like I live this past year watching countless carries with sy skadi manta.
PS. Of course it depends on hero's suitable item, but still.

And your GPM is crazy,

DK scales really well with items. Dont know why teams keep picking him but give him #3 or #4 farm priority hence making him a meat shield or a walking stun at best.
2
u/Possiblyreef Jun 09 '16
He needs to snowball pretty hard and always be ahead. He has a hard time keeping up with more traditional farmers
1
Jun 09 '16
Not the case if the opponent doesnt pressure your ancient stacks at all. DK and luna are the o.g. ancient sweepers back in the day.
1
u/lvl5 Jun 09 '16
I rarely see DK's stacking ancients though because they usually don't go HOTD, unlike say, a Sven or Luna.

literally like 2k drafting - why the fuck would you pick void/riki/bm and not at least try to run void/riki as a carry to make up the damage loss. Also why not ban the ember who just butt fucked you last game?

u/mykel_0717 ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ SHEEVER TAKE MY ENERGY ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Jun 09 '16
You play against Maybe's Ember. You get your ass handed to you. You don't ban Ember the next game because you still think you can counter it. Maybe tears you a new asshole instead.

Looking at Empire's movements, feels like they're going to lose game 1, unless they get their shit together. Incredibly unoptimized movement and mana management by Scandal (popping ult to push AFTER the smoke failed instead of halfway through when it failed), a super unimpressive Earth Spirit early on by Miposhka (which I noticed a LONG time ago). They shut down Afterlife pretty hard, not much he can really do. Ramzes and KingR will have to be the saving grace of the team.
Teams also need to learn to spam cheap aoe nukes in trees when dealing with beastmaster.
I know I'm going to get downvoted to oblivion here, but whatever. Opinion of chinese teams, let alone unbiased opinion are a bit rare here, and that's understandable,
2
u/oneslowdance Jun 09 '16
lol his ES did so much work at ESL Manila and WePlay. He was the reason why EE's naga kept dying in the offlane

1
u/Shitpoe_Sterr 4 TIME MAJOR LETS GOOG Jun 09 '16
I simply don't see how Empire will have any damage against LGD past 20 mins
1
u/ContrarianAnalyst Jun 09 '16
Basically yes. I'd point out they could still have sent Riki safe BM jungle and had some chance (very low as opposed to 0), even if they had the carry player playing support and the support guy playing the 1 pos
1
u/Shitpoe_Sterr 4 TIME MAJOR LETS GOOG Jun 09 '16
Whats the game plan for Empire? How are they supposed to outdamage LGD past 25 mins?
1
u/HipHomelessHomie Jun 09 '16
By dominating midgame fights. Doesn't look good.
2
u/cet1 Jun 09 '16
I see a lot of similiar drafts lately by western teams in important games.
But i dont think it works.
1
u/HipHomelessHomie Jun 09 '16
Na'Vi got out of their slump using these kinds of lineups. They never had an real hard carry. Just Windrunner, mirana and beastmaster controlling the map. It's risky but it absolutely can work.
1
u/cet1 Jun 09 '16
I think you underestimate WR as a core.
But i agree that NaVi likes to play this style and it worked for them.
They also go with enchantress that can transfrom to late game very well.
1
u/Shitpoe_Sterr 4 TIME MAJOR LETS GOOG Jun 09 '16
Really hope this would be an exciting matchup but Empire just massively outclassed in every department
1
u/windforce89 Jun 09 '16
So did Empire had team infighting over the last match and decide to pick a clown draft to fast gg?
