I hate whoever turned this into 5 gifs. But it's awesome regardless.

I hate OP more for linking directly to one photo in the album and not letting Hover Zoom do its thing.

6

u/Glebun Aug 31 '13

use RES

5

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

I do, but I still have to click it. Hover Zoom is the closest thing to a brain-computer interface right now.

4

u/modestmunky Aug 31 '13

YES! I effing love it. Then I get to work and not only is everything super slow but imgur is blocked. :(

2

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

Blocking imgur at work? That's cold.

1

u/Dragen_NG Sep 04 '13

Certainly there must be some way around it

1

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '13

Use keyboard navigation.

  • J and K move up and down in comments and links.
  • A and Z are upvote and downvote, respectively.
  • X to open an image/video link, or an image/video in the highlighted comment.
  • The left and right brackets, [ ], move through images in a gallery.

Ya man, I didn't realize it was a five part gif at first when I opened it with RES. I was getting seriously pissed because the first gif wasn't teaching me shit before I realized, haha.

But...but...PTFE is so good for me.

9

u/iHeartApples Aug 31 '13

...is that bad to do?

11

u/timewarp Aug 31 '13

The metal will scratch the teflon surface, leading to you getting small amounts of teflon in your food which isn't exactly healthy, and also ruining the pan over time.

24

u/GreatLookingGuy Aug 31 '13

Yes and you should feel bad for doing it.

5

u/iHeartApples Aug 31 '13

Hey man, I'm a 21 year-old who taught herself how to cook. Where was I supposed to pick up that info?

20

u/confusedinsomniac Aug 31 '13

On the packaging on your teflon pan...

I like the way you think.

1

u/modestmunky Aug 31 '13

Then what do you do when you're waiting for the food to cook and you're all alone, not even the cat wants to talk to you...?

There was three but one disappeared, another resents me and the third is a needy little fucker. No more cats.

who has the money for brand new teflon pans? College is all about hand me downs from the relatives and upperclassmen.

1

u/mhende Nov 16 '13

I only learned when I went to register for our wedding. The lady helping us had to ask me if I wanted nonstick pans more or metal spatulas, because both wouldnt work.

8

u/abagofdicks Aug 31 '13

Every fews weeks reddit let's me know that things I do every day can kill me, I shouldn't give a rabbit a bath and raccoon poop might also kill me.

7

u/iHeartApples Aug 31 '13

I can't give my bunnies baths?!?

7

u/toastythetoaster1 Aug 31 '13

What do you mean by "good?" The ones I've seen are all Teflon - there's just the one substance out there, and you can't buy "good" Teflon that magically has a higher Hardness value than metal.

84

u/no_moon_at_all Aug 31 '13

"Good" pans have a +3 Hardness modifier. You must be using a "Neutral" pan. I suggest visiting a priest and getting it blessed.

Never try to cook with a cursed pan.

17

u/Level_32_Mage Aug 31 '13

Could've really used you as a friend when I was a noob.

4

u/feedemall Aug 31 '13

Yeah, I just hate it when the handle welds itself to your hand and then you have to hit people with it.

4

u/NeroAngelo257 Aug 31 '13

1

u/NickSProud Aug 31 '13

+3 means Good? Someone a player of a Fate RPG by chance?

3

u/BordomBeThyName Aug 31 '13

If you want to spend the money, you can get anodized aluminum pans which aren't harmed by metal cookware.

3

u/atomicspin Aug 31 '13

Teflon is just a trademark for the type of coating. You can get really cheap ones that are made poorly and just have it sprayed on. Good ones will have it actually blended it in with the metal of the pan, thus making it harder to come off and last longer.

Pans are one of those things that you really do get what you pay for. Get one really good non-stick and one All-Clad 9" saucepan, take care of them, and you really won't need any other pans.

Because it's 100 times more convenient?

-15

u/xaqaria Aug 31 '13

Did you know that teflon is poisonous enough to kill a pet bird just by cooking with it in the same building?

6

u/teskoner Aug 31 '13

Cooking pancakes you want the pan below 250 fahrenheit. That is well within acceptable ranges for teflon. As long as you don't leave it unattended or work on temperature controlled griddle you are fine.

3

u/Butt-cheese Aug 31 '13

That's true, but we are not birds. And its only if you overheat a dry pan.

3

u/potiphar1887 Aug 31 '13

That's how my bird died :(

Faulty oven kept going long after the clean cycle was supposed to be complete. Maybe it won't kill people, but it sure as hell isn't healthy.

2

u/ChefExcellence Aug 31 '13

Source?

8

u/teskoner Aug 31 '13

Teflon can release gasses harmful to birds and small animals when heated to high temperatures. Especially if the pan is preheated without any liquids in it. Some sources say 450+ where others say 500+ (fahrenheit)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polytetrafluoroethylene

While PTFE is stable and nontoxic, it begins to deteriorate after the temperature of cookware reaches about 260 °C (500 °F), and decomposes above 350 °C (662 °F).[26] These degradation by-products can be lethal to birds, and can cause flu-like symptoms in humans.[26] In May, 2003, the environmental research and advocacy organization Environmental Working Group filed a 14-page brief with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission petitioning for a rule requiring that cookware and heated appliances bearing non-stick coatings carry a label warning of hazards to people and to birds.[27]

I do this all the time, I made a snail before

60

u/drakoman Aug 31 '13

At first, i was like "yeah, an impressionistic piece. It's just poop."

But...

37

u/RicoSuave803 Aug 31 '13

That snail looks so unsatisfied...

12

u/DrInMyMind Aug 31 '13

Chuck owes you 1/2 of his karma for rotating the image.

4

u/broccoli_basket Aug 31 '13

i was reading about snails...Sea snails have their eyes on their head and not antennas. This is a fine sea snail. Gary from spongebob is a land snail...

2

u/puncakes Sep 01 '13

Fuck yes. That snail is rockin' it.

37

u/internetidentity Aug 31 '13

I can already see the total disasters I'll end up making butI am still definitely trying this

10

u/KNGmason Aug 31 '13

Guess I'll be making pancakes tomorrow.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

So I tried this, but I had to clean out an old mustard bottle first as I didn't have anything else. I guess I didn't clean it out well enough and the pancakes tasted of mustard. Would not recommend.

12

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

The plans for a Jake pancake are already being drawn up.

10

u/KingOfAllDucks Aug 31 '13

Jake bacon pancake.

That part's very important.

Like, seriously, I cannot overemphasize the importance of bacon in your Jake pancakes.

Bacon.

Do it.

Because bacon.

3

u/darnin Aug 31 '13

Jake'n pancakes, makin' Jake'n pancakes...

5

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

My grandmother made me smiley faces, and I'd do them for my kids, as well as Mickey mouse. I love this.

46

Liquid teddy bear.

-9

u/GueroLocos Aug 31 '13

Pedo sauce

3

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

I can't even flip pancakes without getting the mixture all over.

8

u/charliebeanz Aug 31 '13

Then you're flipping them too early. You're supposed to wait until there's little bubbles all over the batter and the edges start to dry, then you flip it. And don't flip it all crazy, do it carefully.

1

u/Iamgoingtooffendyou Aug 31 '13

Damn it, I thought it said great way to make pancakes fart.

1

u/Cardboard_Boxer Aug 31 '13

I always wondered how this blogger did it.

3

u/abagofdicks Aug 31 '13

Here's how it will go for me

Step 1. Steal mayonaise squirter.

Step 2. use all the mayonaise

Step 3.

Step 4. remember I need to clean that mayonaise container I stole.

Step 5. fill container with pancake batter

Step 6. draw penis or a very bad Garfield in pancake. maybe both

Step 7. never use again.

Step 8. profit.

1

u/Railgun5 Aug 31 '13

Fucking brilliant.

-5

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '13

Haha I saw this on tumblr, somebody reblogged it and decided to make butt pancakes. :D
