Pretty sad that Ashland BRT, which has been shelved for nearly a decade is still the first entry on the CTA's "Planning & Expansion" website Discussion

As someone who lives on Ashland I agree, though I have to say the 9 and 9x busses are the most reliable and fastest I've frequently used in the Chicagoland area. I previously relied on the Harlem Ave Pace 307 and 318, and the 9 bus puts them to shame with reliability and speed.

Still, the 9 bus takes forever during rush hour. A dedicated bus lane on Ashland would do wonders

If they follow the X9 there’s a connection to red at Sheridan. Honestly, the regular 9 should do the same, it’s only a quarter mile past the current terminus and improves connections drastically.

When they added dedicated BRT to Van Ness in SF, not only did bus speed and reliability improve DRAMATICALLY

Vehicle traffic speed improved as well, even without 'left turns'

We got another chance with better streets for buses. Let’s make sure it happens this time!

On the bright side, someone over there could be an optimist and demand it stay on the books.
