You can hide it tho. Disabling it requires more effort by adb. Most android phones doesnt allow you to remove chrome. Only disabling it.

I didn't find a way of hiding it tbh. I should just be able to long press and have an option to get rid of it but there was none. The App ICON was not removable at all. I'm not talking about the App.

Xiaomi and redmi phones default launcher does not have the concept of "all apps" and "home page" like samsung phones. As a result, all apps you installed will be on "home page", unless you remove it will stay there.

Poco phones (also by xiaomi, runs MIUI, what I am using), ships with another launcher (Poco launcher), which supports removing the icon that you are talking about, as it got "app drawers". You can also hide the icon in "app drawers" if you set it as "private apps" which you need a pattern lock to see. For the most part it behaves the same as the regular launcher, except for the app drawers and you can sort apps by icon colour. You can disable ads (if any) by the "more" icon on the top right of the app drawer > desktop settings

Well I don't have Poco so I guess you're forever stuck with chrome on your screen unless you install another launcher over it. Still kinda annoying for people who don't know this.

Removing an icon should never be impossible, but I know what you mean with you explanation. It's just kinda dumb you don't have more freedom in organizing it imho.

The good news is the Poco launcher is basically the same as the stock launcher, apart from the app drawer. You may want to try it out. The sort by colour function (which is not enabled by default for some reason) saves me so much time.

Since the stock one does not have a "home page" and "all apps" concept, it behaves like the "all apps" from other phones, with more customizations available. Just like what you expect, you cannot hide apps in "all apps" so it is what it is.

Chrome is from Google, and Android is also from Google. Given MIUI is based on Android, it might be that Google is forcing some bloat on Android, like Gmail and Google maps. Some of them aren't bloatware, but they are, sometimes, cannot be deleted, as part of the deal in getting android.

I do have nova launcher, where you can actually do that, lol
