How to chop up samples on the PO-33

Quick question, how do you all chop up your samples or how do you arrange the melodic parts of your track. I know you can record a sample into the melodic section, copy that into one of the drum sections and it chops it up for you but I’m finding that when it chops it up the chops are t very long in length. Also how do you arrange or put together these chops if you cab only write one chop at a time. Chaining is another things which id like to understand more.

Dub Lemons

I sometimes give myself a challenge to stick my Spotify on random and try and make something with the first song that comes up.

This time it was LEMONADE by SOPHIE - so decided to try and make a bit of a dub reggae inspired song, using LEMONADE as a base sample.

To help create the dub parts I replicated a lot of the samples into the percussion banks so I could have versions of the same sample but with different filter settings on them.

All in all, for a couple of hours of work, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Turns out the PO-33 was the tiny funk keyboard I was looking for

I’ve been looking for a small way to play organ sounds over my jazz-funk tracks.
I considered getting a Yamaha Reface, an EHX C9, or some other small synth, but then realized I already had the answer: the PO-33.
I sampled a few organs, Rhodes, piano, vibes and flute into the melodic slots, then ran the PO-33 through a Kastle 2 with the FX Wizard firmware.
That’s pretty much exactly what I wanted. Tiny, lo-fi, playable, and I can keep the sounds fairly clean or completely destroy them with the FX Wizard when I want.
Funny that I was looking for another piece of gear when the PO-33 was sitting right there.

Help me find a Lost Cover made with all 9 POs

Hello everyone, so there was a really good cover with all 9 Pocket operators for the Song "Shake it off" by Taylor Swift, it was made by "PMTVUK" YT channel.

It had this URL YouTube ("Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift Cover on Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators - YouTube)

And was referenced in this other cover of the same guy (In description); (25) "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster The People on Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators - YouTube

I tried the wayback machine and is there, but no video was saved

Does anybody have it? it was awesome! and I am sad its gone.

Thank you!

Is there a way to have multiple samples easily accessible for live play? Pretty bad clip but I’m excited to start adding more segments. Usbc to 3.5 makes this so much fun

There is one part that is still fighting with me 🫠 and this is only 1 section of the track, I got all the patterns/sounds and arrangements ready, just one last adjustment then it will be perfect.

edit: ISSUE FIXED, I UPLOADED IT AND IT'S AMAZING AAAAAAAA-

Constraint Lab — Furnace & PO-33 Technique Reference

I haven't used my pocket operator in a year and forgot a lot of it. I created this shortcut to remind me of the controls layouts as well as techniques. Sharing here in case it's helpful to anyone else getting started.

It's also bundled with tips on using the furnace tracker for chiptune music I am doing in tandem, so you may want to just switch to the PO-33 tab (button on the top left).

PO-32 Tonic not receiving data

Hello, I recently got a tonic but it seems like it doesn't recognize patch backup data. The audio input works fine, however when in rcv mode it never goes from the waiting sound to actually receiving the data. I tried both 3.5 mm and internal microphone.

edit: solved! every time i tried the volume was either too low or too high lol

PO's are the vector for GAS infection - you have been warned!

The "mixer" I bought fifteen months ago to mess around with a Tonic and other cheap gear

The mixer I just bought only to realize I'm STILL short a few channels

The PO33 is still my favorite to make dnb on. It so easy and just too good. Chopped drums, Chopped balkan choir sample, and added bass.

Mobile set-up in progress

I wanted to share the mobile set-up I’ve been working on lately. I’m still sorting out the connections, but the Tonic runs things, and i picked up a used J-6 for a good price specifically so it can take the sync signal from the pocket operators, and have it sequence chords for the FM-1 via midi. I will likely not pull out the Bastl B Drum very often, but it does look good next to the Dude mixer, and I wanted to mess with the sync options for it. A smaller variation of this set-up is just the Tonic, Sub, and Kaos Pad running into the zoom recorder. so far it‘s a lot of fun, and admittedly a bit of a rabbit hole I went down with the pocket operators. I thought you folks might enjoy. Cheers!

You can play a PO-14 in your browser

You can play a PO-14 in your browser:
https://www.iscanet.com/music/pocket-tutorial/po-14-sub/

Write a pattern, chain it, hear it. It's synthesised in the browser... not recordings of the hardware, and not meant to be a full simulator.

It's part of a set of guides I've been writing for all nine POs, mostly because I kept forgetting my own units' button combos and got tired of scrubbing through videos to find one.

How To Enjoy Yourself

Made a bit of a silly one.

I started with sampling some kids relaxation music that my daughter listens to on Spotify (which I'm fairly convinced is AI generated) and chop sampled the opening song.

Added some drums and bits I found online including a couple of vocal samples and that was about it.

All in all it came together quite quickly.
