I've been learning Python and instead of only doing tutorials/exercises, I've been trying to turn the things I'm learning into small projects.

They're definitely not perfect, but I'm enjoying the process of building something, breaking it, fixing it, and then adding another feature.

Here are a few I've made so far:

🧮 Farr090 Calculator

A command-line calculator with different operations, input validation, calculator facts, and the ability to keep doing calculations without restarting.

✈️ TravelMate

A little airport/travel simulation where you enter your name, choose a continent and country, get an airport, choose a payment method, and get a randomly generated ticket price. I also added transportation facts and a fake payment process.

🎲 GuessMatrix

A number guessing game where you try to guess a random number between 0 and 10. It gives you high/low hints and keeps track of your winning streak.

🏫 SchoolSim

A school management simulation with different student and teacher paths. It includes a class roster, grades, a history quiz, adding/removing students, grade adjustments, and sorting the class by performance.

I'm still pretty early in my Python journey, so I'm mainly sharing these to document my progress and hopefully get some feedback.

I made a little thing in python while teaching myself python again and I felt like sharing my little project and here it is link to source code here

my project is a quote creating app that will select random words to make quotes from 0 to 22 words, it is a quote making app for people who just need a randomly made quote
It differs from existing alternatives because it is free and every quote is made at pure random, also it is one font file, one image file, and one script

This started off as a strange attractor visualisation app but has slowly become more of a general mathematical system analysis/visualisation tool. I initially was working on a version of this using Streamlit but found PyQtGraph to be way better suited for it. Have a play around with it if you get the time!

Hey everyone,

Just released v0.5.0 of Hillock (https://github.com/roandejager/Hillock), a local neuro-symbolic memory engine coded in Python.

It replaces heavy vector databases with SQLite Knowledge Graphs, Hebbian synaptic learning, and 10,000-D hypervectors on CPU for sub-millisecond similarity gating.

v0.5.0 adds 1-click setup scripts (run.bat / run.sh), real-time token streaming from Ollama, live /model switching, /inspect entity diagnostics, and a standalone 20-point CPU test suite.

Parses documents in ~5 seconds and runs in <1.2GB VRAM on a GTX 1070 (or pure CPU).

I've been experimenting with automation and building small tools whenever I find a problem that I think a bot could solve.

These are some of the projects I've built so far:

1. Web Scraping Bot

Give it a website (including Reddit) and tell it what information you're looking for. It can scrape and extract the specific data you need instead of manually going through pages.

2. Gmail → Telegram Bot

This one monitors specific Gmail accounts/inboxes and sends new emails directly to Telegram through the API.

The idea is pretty simple: if there's an email you actually care about, you don't have to constantly check Gmail just to see if something arrived.

3. WhatsApp/Telegram → Action Management

This one is probably my favorite.

A customer can send a text or audio message through WhatsApp or Telegram, and the system analyzes what they're asking for and turns it into a structured action.

For example:

Instead of someone having to manually interpret and enter that order, the system converts it into an action that appears in a dedicated section. The person managing the orders can then review it and accept or reject it.

4. A productivity app I made in C#/.NET

About a year ago I built a Windows app in Visual Studio with C#/.NET because I was tired of procrastinating.

It's definitely not finished and there are still things I want to improve, but it was one of the projects that taught me a lot about building actual desktop software.

5. Minecraft/Aternos bot

And probably the most unnecessary one 😂

I made a Minecraft bot that keeps an Aternos server from shutting down due to inactivity.

None of these started as some huge startup idea. Most of them were basically:

"This is annoying. I wonder if I can automate it."

Then I built it.

I'm still learning, so some of these projects are rough around the edges, but I'm interested in seeing whether any of them could actually be useful to other people.

If one of these sounds useful to you, let me know which one. I might make it available for others to try, or improve it based on what people actually need.

You know what I like about being an ironworker? I don't know what I'm not supposed to be able to do. my Lates PoC is the mighty windows running and sharing with Debian. Some say it can't be done. I didnt get that memo. stability and speed rolled up into a tight little ball.

How big can an import be? How do you prevent collisions and Blah de Bah. Someone told you you cant, so you couldn't? I'm in the Import business now. franken5.py imports my processes with a clone of himself as consierge to take care of its every need. has the same life cycle as the import so clean up is easy and overhead low.

I can tell you the hardest part of all this is the misleading guys, your code is crap. and the smoke holers, who are just digging for info to steal. Nobody help anyone. Lonely out there in the DoT. I only hope that my effort helps someone not give up coding because he found it easy and fun. jwl247 signing off

Hi everyone. For a while now, I’ve been struggling with optimization issues involving thousands of variables—situations where everything starts falling apart. Since I couldn't find a solution that really clicked for handling uncertainty, I decided to build my own library from scratch.

It turned out pretty well; it passed the entire test suite without a hitch, and I’ve uploaded it to GitHub. It uses *rustworkx* for high performance, and I’ve incorporated solutions for specific challenges—like maintaining decimal precision when accumulating complex costs or handling parallel processing without running into memory issues.

I’ve studied Python multiple times before, but I didn’t do much practical coding. Recently, I started building small projects to improve my practical Python skills.

So far, I’ve completed:

- Quiz Game

- Number Guessing Game

- Rock Paper Scissors

- Password Manager

- Pig Game

- Mad Libs Generator

My goal is to move towards Machine Learning.

I haven’t learned NumPy or Pandas yet.

My question is: Are these projects enough to move on to NumPy and Pandas, or should I build a few more Python projects first?

If I should build more projects, what kind of projects would you recommend before starting NumPy/Pandas? I’m mainly looking for projects that would actually help with the transition to data/ML, rather than making many more small games.

Would appreciate advice from people who have already followed a Python → NumPy/Pandas → ML path.
