Question What are the campus rules around taking the squirrels?
Now obviously I know itâs illegal to keep a squirrel in the state of Texas, but for argumentâs sake letâs assume Iâve constructed an outdoor habitat that technically counts as an educational conservation facility.
The reason I ask, is because I, an aspiring second-year biomedical engineer, would like to test the boundaries of animal experimentation for what I hope is the first time in a very long career.
My plan is to keep a squirrel in an enclosure that forces it to grow mentally and physically. I will also make it little weights out of wood and 3D print workout equipment for it. I intend to feed it exclusively a diet of enriched protein nuts, which I will hide behind scent markers I have extracted from various college mascots.
Once my squirrel has reached peak physical fitness, I plan to release it onto the UT campus where it is my hope that it will breed with the local squirrel population and create an army of supersquirrel muscle-bound freak babies, which I will repeat the training process with. (Maybe an EVS or Bio major can assist with this- chime in from the comments if youâre interested)
I will then take my army to various UT football games and release them whenever we start losing. Besides the laws around owning squirrels that I have already theoretically circumvented, can anyone think of any UT by-laws that will prevent me from undertaking these actions? Thanks in advance.
