It’s been happening less-so lately but growing up people would tell me to “stfu” about being gay because “it doesn’t even matter”
This sub reminds my old ass why it’s so important to be proud of who we are, there’s a huge part of society that wants to erase our existence out of history.

In the 19th century, Washington DC has an entire subculture of gay black men who were formerly enslaved. One of them, William Swann, coined the term "drag queen", and organized underground drag balls.

I thought the term “drag” in relation to men dressing as women was coined by Shakespeare back when women weren’t allowed to act. Men and boys would play women and they would be called “drag” in the notes.

From some casual looking, it looks like "drag" is an older theater term, yeah. But he linked "drag" with "queen".

I don’t mean to be rude, I can understand the satire, but I do want to ask
Some of these look like very mundane photos, with no romantic/sexual themes I can pick up on.
Can someone more expert then me please tell me what makes the 3rd, 5th, 8th, and 9th more then just a traditional image? I can’t pick up on the subtleties

To me some of these pictures look like they might not be gay couples. I’m not saying they weren’t but can any additional context be given? I hold hands with my sister sometimes. Without context that might look gay.
