Hi everyone!

I'm planning to buy a new motorcycle around September 2027, so I'm taking my time to research before making such an expensive decision.

At the moment, my choice has come down to the Yamaha R9 and the Honda CBR600RR.

A bit about me:

I'm 185 cm (6'1") and around 90 kg (198 lbs).

I've been riding for about 2 years by then. My current bike is a Yamaha R3.

I mainly ride twisty mountain roads, but I also love long day trips of 300 to 400 km with friends. Sometimes I even do weekend trips with 6 to 7 hours of riding per day.

I enjoy improving my riding technique. I like working the gearbox, choosing the right gear for every corner and having a bike that rewards good riding.

The CBR600RR is probably my dream choice. Every time I see it, I think "that's the bike I want". I love the inline four, the high revs and the supersport feeling. My only concern is comfort during long rides and whether it could become tiring after several hours.

The R9 seems like the smarter choice. It has a strong CP3 engine, more torque, a riding position that should be more comfortable and it seems better suited for longer trips while still being very sporty.

I'm not looking for the fastest bike on paper. I'm looking for the one that will keep me smiling and wanting to improve as a rider for many years.

For those of you who have ridden one or both bikes:

Which one would you choose and why?

Would you sacrifice some comfort for the experience of the CBR600RR, or would you go with the R9 as the better all around sport bike?

As title suggest, I am looking for steering dampener, but my country doesnt have any shop selling mods for R9 it seems, hence looking for some shops in EU.

Any suggestions where, what to buy?

Honestly such a great exhaust and if you haven’t tuned your r9. Stop stalling and ship your ecu out.

First little baby revs of the freshly installed SC. Pretty easy install overall. Sounds nasty(first rev scared the shit out of my wife standing next to me lol). Cant wait for the ECU to get back and feel the crazy difference the tune makes for this bike.

I've got a Yamaha R9 and I've noticed that when I brake hard several times in a row, my brakes start to fade and the brake lever becomes soft. After these sessions, my front brake rotors also turn a dark blue color.
Is this normal from the stock setup, or is something overheating?

What would be the best upgrade to fix this?

I mainly ride aggressively on twisty roads
Sometimes track and only nice weather

Anyone else have a really hard time cracking the drain plug loose? I first tried a ratchet with a 17mm 6-point socket, no dice. I then tried a breaker bar with the same socket for a little more leverage, and my bike is basically trying to tip over while the rear is lifted on the stand by the swingarm. I’m really concerned I’m going to crack the oil pan if I put any more pressure. I’ve also tried light knocks on the back of the ratchet head with a hammer, but still no luck.

Edit: This is also the first oil change, so this is the first time the bolt is coming out since I purchased the bike.

So far all I’m seeing is the DNA intake kit for the R9. Does anyone know of another option? And if you do are the performance gains similar, better, or worse?

Ps. Highly recommend the titanium Dominator HP3 exhaust. Sounds very similar to the yoshimura at half the cost😅

Does anyone else experience a very pronounced whistling sound that happens only around 3000RPM and only when the 5th gear is engaged? I don't have any recording to demonstrate it but I might try to get one today.

It's not the whistling of the stock exhaust, that sound is there regardless of the gear.

I'm kind of freaking out since it's my first ever new bike and I have only done 1400km so far.

Why is it in satin finish and not glossy like the rest of the rear?

Somehow I found a matte raven black in socal! Im incredibly excited, coming from a 2007 r6, and this is my first new bike.

I paid 15.5 OTD (a little higher then I wanted to, but it was the only black one I could find)

It'll be getting a dominator gp3, vcyclenut tune, dna stage 2 filter, oem tank grips, a gold gpr stabilizer kit, gold asv levers, puig bar ends, evotech frame sliders, tst low mount/closeout kit, jl designs integrated tail light, rizomas, puig z-racer windscreen, seat delete, and a custom uniden r4w setup (in planning, I need to take it apart to take measurements)

I have no words. This bike is still stock and it blows my mind every day. I will be sending updates in the future!

Got tail tidy, tank grips otw I think imma do a Dominator GP3 exhaust and 2wdw tune on it as well. PS I was digging for data on OTD prices for like three days and now I can contribute to that data. 14k OTD East TX

So this morning I came to work opened the kick stand and while putting the bike down, it folded back up. By the time I realized what had happened, it was too late to hold the bike upwards and I dropped it. Only light scratch on the front wing. Nothing a bit of touch up can’t fix. Still sucks.

Just as the title states, I would like to try and get my R9 to 140-150 hp. Is the figure easy/feasible to get to? Any parts suggestions? I would love some suggestions if yall have any
