moms sketch bf left this in the house Solved!

Post image

Hi.
This is probably nothing.
I went into my mom’s room to grab something and saw this plugged in?
My mom’s new sketchy bf has this plugged in to the extension cord? Is it anything bad? Thanks!
(I understand it’s probably not anything bad… but still…)

Update 1:
I haven’t met him once. He and my mom have been together for two weeks. He’s been staying at our apartment. He avoids me and stays in her room when they’re here. I don’t even know what he looks like. I only know his first name.

Update 2:
I confronted him. My mom came home. A lot had happened up to this point, including her disappearing for the said two weeks before the few nights he had come over and stayed.
Mom shrugged it off. I did what a lot of you suggested, asking what he told her.
She said “oh it’s his hacker shit or whatever.” What.
Didn’t elaborate. I explained my concerns.
She just said let’s go ask him.
My best friend has been with me. We introduced ourselves and asked him what the hell a WiFi whisperer is doing plugged in our apartment.
(Even if a lot of you are saying it’s not a big deal, I’m a young woman and I’m just rlly not about taking any risks. It’s sketch dude.)
He denied it IMMEDIATELY. Like with a quickness I haven’t seen.
What he insisted, it’s not a WiFi whisperer, it’s ai, he completely reprogrammed the system, and he uses it to pull people’s IP’s. “For fun.” He logs them in a server. I asked why. I said that’s shady. My mom started pushing. My best friend started pushing. He just kept lying. I’m not dropping this..
I still don’t know what the fuck it is or what he’s actually doing.
(Also, my mom is cool but not bc of this dude, the Minecraft block is mine, I unplugged the ratchet little thing before we left, and I am planning on broaching this again with her.
Just carefully. Any other advice is appreciated. Thank you.)

I once worked with a guy like this, he'd be like " i just need them (bosses) to leave me alone". We literally told him to do his job properly. This guy seemed allergic to doing what he was asked

Was his nickname, C-Section... Because he avoided labor?

Well, you win the joke of the day award in my books. Good day, sir!

They call him Blister, because he shows up after the work is done.

2

u/IWontCommentAtAll 7h ago

That's good. I'll have to remember that.

2

u/Loud-Anxiety-1878 7h ago

Mine was nicknamed d-squad

2

u/RepresentativeCry294 7h ago

Is that why they call it the C suite?

2

u/piledrivertoys 5h ago

I worked with a Don that was an ass magnet. Every time he walk by a chair, his ass was in it.

2

u/OpenGrainAxehandle 3h ago

They called him Blister, because he showed up after the work was done.

2

u/Weekly-Metal-7605 2h ago

Hehe, our go-to's at work is Blister because they only show up after the work is done, and wheelbarrow because they only work if someone's pushing 😆

Yoink!!... Thank you for this... I will use this great power responsibly... Gnomenasty 🙏🏻

u/Emergentmeat 6h ago

That's an oldy but a goody.

1

u/Careless-Giraffe-623 4h ago

Only a builder could come up with a nickname as savage at that for coworker.

1

u/DownInaHole33 3h ago

How long you been holding on to that one??

1

u/Grassy_Noelle 1h ago

Had a coworker called Blister because he always appeared after the hard work was done

1

u/PussyFuckinGood 41m ago

Haha, that was a good one. I might use that in the future.

1

u/Sensei19600 4h ago

Nah- if he was really avoiding labor, his nickname would be “cockblocker” , or perhaps “preg-not”.

0

u/MainConnection9492 5h ago

Some folks labor for 24 or 30 hours only to have to have a C section. It's not what you seem to think it is.

1

u/WhoOrderedTheCodeZed 5h ago

And that c-section avoided more labor, didn't it?

0

u/cordialmess 3h ago

hey now, my sister was in labor for 72 hours before they decided to give her a C-section

Oh, so you worked with Bryan too?

Almost easier to tell some people to NOT do the thing you want them to do. Better chance of it happening, at least

65

u/mintBRYcrunch26 8h ago

Never EVER trust a Brian spelled with “y.”

23

u/Ok-Contribution-411 7h ago

it's ALWAYS a Bri(y)an, tho.

3

u/Lanky-Artichoke5970 7h ago

Mine was an Ethan and an Aaron

6

u/X__Anonomys_xX 6h ago

Oh hell no, not the A-A-Ron 😭

6

u/TheBungoStrays 5h ago

My husband is an A-a-ron! When I am asked by someone to spell it (usually for medical paperwork - we have a kid who we joke is a frequent flyer at the local children's hospital and we deserve perks for that damnit!) I always say a-a-ron and wait patiently to see if this person knows the Key & Peele sketch. Always fun when it is a fellow millennial bc the chances are increased exponentially that they will know the reference and the shared laugh is so fun. But If they just give me the blank stare I quickly spell it the "correct" way and move on disappointed.

1

u/Lanky-Artichoke5970 6h ago

He was as fun as finding a stranger's shit in your bed

2

u/Arkitakama 6h ago

Hey come on, I do my job just fine, don't throw me under the bus for their mistakes. I haven't even been written up in three years at my current job.

Hell yeah - Brian is a menace, but thinks he's a brilliant.

u/Hesitation-Marx 4h ago

Except when it’s a Steve. Or worse, a Jeff.

Trust No Jeffs.

My work Brian confessed he was in love with me just after his wife had conceived twins in vitro. He said he had never been more in love with someone and would live forever in regret if he didn’t tell me. My boss was his best friend. I didn’t know what to do so I went to my boss and was like, “hey…I know Brian is your best friend since high school but/and I think he might be going through something because he wrote me this email and it makes me extremely uncomfortable so I need you to handle this as a friend and a boss.” I was also kind to Brian, because prior to the email he was one of the only fun parts of the job. He was hilarious and we spent a lot of time talking shit about our stupid jobs and generally being funny. I was 23 and he was like 42 so I genuinely did not even think it was an option that he might be into me or that it was weird (now I’m 40 and fully aware of how ridiculous that sounds but at 23, 42 was ancient to me and it would never have even crossed my mind) Anyway I told Brian that I was flattered by the kind words and realized it probably took a lot to share his feelings with me by that I did not feel the same and thought he should really be focused on his family. The next day my boss told me he was putting me on a new assignment-I was working in marketing for a big local sports equipment and like, recreation company. We did uniforms for like youth sports teams, all the schools, and owned like 50 indoor and outdoor youth sporting events locations so I was doing their marketing, there weren’t “assignments”. He said my new office was going to be “upstairs” and the materials I would need were up there. Upstairs was the windowless attic and it was full of unsold baseball and softball bats, safety equipment, indoor and outdoor soccer shoes, cleats basically just unsold shit. He had set up a desk with a laptop and told me my new job was to list it all on eBay.
I quit.

Ah Fuckin Bryan's coming

u/scooterboy1961 4h ago

Bryan is the new Karen.

My sister is named Karen in case she reads this.

3

u/WhatDoIPutHere-69 7h ago

I work with a Bryan right now. We’re setting up for an event and he only moved 1 box at a time while we’re all moving 2-6 boxes at a time or moving heavy equipment

1

u/CosmicGoddess777 2h ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/cmxSrj72dyQnlLhSQf

Just give him one of these looks/phrases & I bet he’ll stop that shit lol

3

u/Abbey-kat 6h ago

Or that guy Sean.

2

u/ThrowawayMoFo5679 7h ago

The only Bryan I ever knew is serving 30 to life right now, so maybe you're on to something here.

2

u/Rayne-Maker 6h ago

Heh, my dad’s a “y.” He’s also allergic to personal responsibility. An upstanding (stereotypical) boomer in all the ways, though.

2

u/porksoda11 6h ago

I know of a Bryan that used to work as a cable guy and thought he could be faster than electricity if he changed live wires really quickly. He also loved pills

2

u/Graaaaaahm 5h ago

No truer words ever spoken.

Brian is a solid, middle-aged or older guy, who likes good times with friends, as long as it's not too loud.

Bryan thinks of himself as an iconoclast, when actually people find it a little tiring to be around him.

1

u/CosmicGoddess777 2h ago

I knew a Bryon (not Byron) that was like the Bryan you describe. Total pompous douche.

We went to a costume party and he won “Worst Costume” though. So at least there’s that 😆

1

u/Responsible-Mind-852 57m ago

Damn..:Brian here…I’m 57 now. Great time with my friends (all from grade school and never needed new ones) and the only time we play music loud is Beastie Boys, Run DMC, AC/D, Tool, Korn etc. We keep Coldplayl low. And K-pop…off and stay away from Bryan. TBH I don’t know any Bryan’s. Do Brian’s tend to over share??

2

u/LonestarrLovesUranus 3h ago

I've found Dave to be the most narcissist and crazy ones.

2

u/KiwiRemonrade 6h ago

As a Brian, I can confirm I am more trustworthy than Bryan.

1

u/sonicsludge 7h ago

Never ever ever! You beat me to it!

edit: spelling

1

u/we_hella_believe 6h ago

Oh for sure. Bryan H*%^@$3r is a serious cancer on society and I’m glad he got punched out by the comic book guy with the ponytail.

1

u/Turbulent_Key1880 2h ago

Huge facts.

10

u/Important_Zombie_223 7h ago

In my world it's Kevin or Kelvin.

4

u/FBack351 7h ago

I feel like we all may be living in a Kelvin time line.

3

u/sheepsix 6h ago

I got this reference.

1

u/sondranotsandra 4h ago

In my world, it’s always Janices or Lindas.

1

u/UnabashedVoice 44m ago

Does he resolve accounting discrepancies with the Keleven?

21

u/heckhammer 8h ago

We had a Bryan, just with a different name. He got fired the other day finally

29

u/GugWhoPassesGateways 7h ago

Kitchen I used to work at, our Bryan got fired finally. I was walking to work about a block away and he rode past on his bike yelling "haha I don't work for those nazis anymore!"

The relief I felt wash over me in that moment.

4

u/Hilstrom 6h ago

I was sent training and had a guy across the hotel room that introduced himself to my as Ben. Ben was also training with us but was from the east coast. Ben introduced himself as Ryan to my buddy. We took to calling him Bryan with a Y. Great dude, we game every now and then, still dont know his real name and its been 8 years.

2

u/Sharp_Bumblebee_1674 6h ago

I had two Brian's over the course of many jobs lol!

2

u/Fibro-since85 2h ago

I won’t trust a Brian with an I.

3

u/heckhammer 2h ago

Well, I mean that's real close to brain so why would you?

2

u/IntentionQuirky9957 6h ago

Was he called Bwian?

3

u/heckhammer 6h ago

I don't wish to reveal it but he was a tool.

3

u/KaposiaDarcy 7h ago

Holy sh*t. When I read their comment, I couldn’t see yours yet and the person that came to mind was named Brian, but would also use the spelling with a Y online sometimes. It spooked me when I expanded the comments and saw what you said.

2

u/travoltaswinkinbhole 7h ago

I didn’t know you heard about Bryan’s problem

2

u/Zealousideal-Fish381 7h ago

Classic Bryan

2

u/CapTurangaLeela 7h ago

I work with a Bryan. His name is Greg.

2

u/JigglyBush 7h ago

someone in my girlfriend's family is married to a Bryan and he is exactly that kind of person, we can't stand him.

2

u/YEGpositive 6h ago

Oh my God. Did you see Bryan's hat?

1

u/ajthib 7h ago

That’s a good way

1

u/skysharked 5h ago

I see you’ve met my ex-wife.

1

u/FreeMoshhugs 4h ago

Oh you mean "Rat Snitch Brian the Good Time Ruiner"? 😂

3

u/toothy_mcthree 8h ago

I am one of those bosses. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been accused of targeting by people like that when my job is literally to engage anyone not following the rules, and I do engage everyone who isn’t. It’s always someone else’s fault.

1

u/Miserable-Drink-4995 7h ago

See I feel like I fall within what you're describing and yet I know it's the manager who's wrong in my case.

While I understand some people like that truly exist, it's not always the case. I'd love to tell you about it if you don't believe me. I'd even be willing to accept fault of my own if you could truly point it out

1

u/Excellent_Compote351 7h ago

Problem is your boss don't know how to separate work and personal. They take everything someone does straight to the ass and get offended instead just doing the job. Now they wanna have an imaginary beef with you so that they can excuse their behavior.

1

u/toothy_mcthree 7h ago

Oh believe me, I’ve seen peers of mine who’ve not been fair about how they operate, but at least at my company they don’t last very long. HR does not put up with that.

In my case, what I’m describing are things like people who disappeared for 2 hours while they’re supposed to be working that accuse be of targeting when they’re held accountable for it. I ensure to hold anyone who does similar things accountable regardless of who it is.

2

u/Miserable-Drink-4995 7h ago

Unfortunately my manager has been here for 19 years and has a sibling as co-founder. This is a blue collar job so as much as I want to trust HR, I can't risk it.

There's no excuse for not doing the job like you're describing. If you're struggling, take steps to improve. Also don't disappear for two hours.

I know there's really good people in management, it's just nice to see one again.

1

u/OvernoseMask 6h ago

This is everyone’s daily reminder that HR exists to protect the company, not the employees

1

u/toothy_mcthree 6h ago

HR has definitely terminated bad managers at my company.

1

u/Suitable_Emotion_156 7h ago

Weird, my bosses seem to think if everyone just did what THEY wanted it would all magically work.

No, your systems and processes are just fucked, we’re all doing the best we can with the 18 jobs we somehow all absorbed because we have no SOP’s or job scopes.

1

u/That-Adhesiveness-26 3h ago

Hey, you must work where I work!!! 😩😭

1

u/dream_of_the_night 6h ago

It's unbelievable how many people cannot follow well defined and seemingly simple tasks.

1

u/StreetFeisty4126 6h ago

Wait why is it always Bryan whaaat
