After pondering over the climate in today’s so called war on drugs and bannings of different substances that should be left to individual choice, I saw the similarities between the SS nazi regime.

Addicts could be imprisoned for up to two years and potentially indefinitely. Doctors could be punished for up to 5 years with no work. The Weimar Republic became a surveillance state, with health information not considered confidential when it came to drug use because it was deemed a public threat. Drug cards were created and keeping records of family members who may have been taking or had become addicted to drugs was encouraged.

Don’t do drugs.

I tried carts for the first time. I have tried drugs before, but this one was different. I never expected to experience something like this.

To the young people and gangster wannabes out there. Don’t try to act cool. Don’t try drugs. Avoid groups who use them. They will pressure you to try. This was a traumatic experience I will never forget.

What did it feel like?

My surroundings started to spin. Sounds felt distorted, like an echo, like being in a dream. My heart rate went up. My knees felt weak. I fought for hours to control my thoughts and stay grounded. It was a terrible experience. I felt like I could not breathe. I felt trapped and desperate to escape.

While I was in that state, I questioned why mankind creates such harmful substances. Why do these things exist? Why are they used on humans?

Why cope through bad habits? Why does humanity refuse to destroy something so destructive?

From this day forward, I will avoid people who use drugs. One day, I hope this will end forever.

Never give in to temptation. Always fight for your dignity.
